Icon4 How to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 4 (1.59.00 Baseband) Untethered on 4.2.1 with GreenPois0n RC5

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4 (1.59.00 Baseband) Untethered on 4.2.1 with GreenPois0n RC5 and Unlock with Ultrasn0w

The following instructions will help iPhone 4 unlockers to update to iOS 4.2.1 while keeping the old 1.59.00 baseband, jailbreak it untethered with GreenPois0n RC5, and then unlock it with Ultrasn0w.

NOTE: This guide is meant for iPhone 4 only.
Step 1: Download the latest version of TinyUmbrella from here.
Step 2: Start TinyUmbrella, and then click on “Start TSS Server”.

Step 3: Start iTunes, Connect your iPhone 4 with your computer. Click on your iOS device icon from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold left “alt” (option) button on Mac, or Left “Shift” button if you are on Windows on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update” or “Check for Update”) button in the iTunes and then release this button.

This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your iOS 4.2.1 firmware file. Select this ipsw file and click on “Open” to restore your iPhone.
Step 4: Now at some point while restoring to iOS 4.2.1, iTunes will throw 1013 error at you. This is normal, just ignore this error as the firmware has already been successfully installed on the device without the upgraded baseband.

Step 5: Now click on TinyUmbrella’s “Exit Recovery” button. Your device will now restart normally.
Step 6: Now open Greenpois0n and follow the on-screen instructions to jailbreak your iPhone 4 untethered on iOS 4.2.1 using GreenPois0n RC5.
Step 7: Once you have jailbroken your iPhone 4, you can safely unlock it on iOS 4.2.1 (on 01.59.00 baseband) using Ultrasn0w 1.2.

It will work, just skip to step 3. Baseband only effects unlock.

Yes. you are running an Internet server in windows and it is using port 80. You need to shut down the server first.

Run the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetmgr.exe (XP Pro) or wherever you find it on other OS's.

Expand the node

Yourcomputername(local computer)
Web Sites
Default Web Site.

Highlight Default Web Site and click the Stop button in the toolbar or Rt click and select Stop.

Now you can start tinyumberella and will not get that message.

The reason is that TU acts as a web server on your computer and uses port 80 which clashes with your internet server.

My iPhone 4 has a version of 4.1 (8B117) which is already jailbroken. Question is, would it be possible to upgrade it to version 4.2.1? if so, will my old apps and customize settings be remain as it is or I need to re-customize it again?

Thank you for any assistance

---------- EDIT ----------

I have iphone4 (version 4.1) with 02.10.04 baseband and already jailbreak. will it be possible to upgrade it to (version 4.2.1) without removing my current customize themes?

As KnightWolf said above the unlock is affected with the later bb. In a word - yes.

Hey guys, i've just done it (and done on 4.0.1 to 4.1 too), but don't know why, i'm stuck now on recovery...
iTunes gone 1013, ok.
Exit iTunes, on TinyUmbrella 'kick out re...'.
Ok, kind of rebooted and apple logo appears... but then, it gets on recovery mode again.
On tinyumbrella says "recovery device connected > Rec Dev disconnected..." (it should now kick out, but...) "...> Rec Dev connected"

its on a recovery loop o____O"

[have just restored to 4.1 and it works ok, but not on 4.2.1... =/ ]

yes, i have latest tiny umb.

any thoughts ?
