The easiest way!

You can put this in the "why would you want to do that, oh well it's cool to say I can" bucket. ModMyi.com user cjaglive has built an Apple Script app which will take iPad-only apps you've purchased (still requires a purchase - this isn't warez, folks) and allow them to be launched on an iPhone, as well as transfer them to your iPhone wirelessly. It requires a jailbroken iPhone, as it sends the .app file via SFTP (requires OpenSSH be installed on your device). Not all apps work, as they're not really meant to be on that device obviously, but like I said - this is more just "oh, weird, why not?"

This isn't entirely new - in May of last year we posted info on how to port the (then iPad only) Netflix.app to your iPhone. This user's method is essentially the same, and can be done manually as well. All he does is change the app's permissions to 755, as well as the binary. Then toss the .app in your iPhone's /Applications folder, and respring. Voila, iPad app on your iPhone, working kinda sorta.

If you have a need to do this, and do not want to do the manual method, you can use cjaglive's instructions:

1. Download iTelePad2Pod Here.

2. Unzip iTelePad2Pod.zip

3. Move the iTelePad2Pod folder to the /Applications Folder on your Mac.

4. Go to the moved iTelePad2Pod folder (/Applications/iTelePad2Pod) and open the iTelePad2Pod application.(/Applications/iTelePad2Pod/iTelePad2Pod.app)

5. Follow instructions in the app.

Alright guys using this guide you will be able to convert any iPad app/game to iPhone!

Here i will convert CineXplayer an iPad app to iPhone/iPod app



Tutorial:


*note* you must be jailbroken and install this app through installous for this app to work, as itunes will not (currently) sync/install the app */note*
1. First download the app (duh)


2. (If you have downloaded it from itunes find the *.ipa file


OSX:
"/users/username/Music/iTunes/Itunes Media"


Win XP:
"C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications"

or

"C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications


Vista/7:

"C:\Users\[user name]\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications"

Or

"C:\Users\[user name]\Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications"

3. open the ipa file in winrar (or similar program), don’t unzip it.




4. In winrar open (double click) the folder named ‘Payload’, then ‘CineXplayer.app’




5. then extract the info.plist to your desktop (or where ever you want, i don't care) and open it in a plist editor ( I used plist editor for windows)










6. Change:



7. save you modified info.plist file


8. drag your newly edited info.plist file back over to the winrar window to overwrite the old info.plist file (if it promps you, click yes)




9. exit winrar and copy the cineXplayer.ipa file to your device (via ssh or ftp or whatever) to '/var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads/'


10. on your device install the ipa via installous
if you don't know what im talking about:





10.1 open installous (if you don't have installous, install it via cydia)


10.2 tap on 'Downloads', 'cinexplayer.ipa', then 'install'


10.3 wait for installous to tell you it has finsihed installing





11. congrats! you now have an ipad app running on your ipod touch/iphone

hey I just wanted to ask you... I just "ported" the infinity field app to my iphone 4 and the size of the picture is bigger than my screen... I see only part of it... I can interact with it but just partially... can that be corrected somewhere??

well I have read that maybe resizing the pictures will work... so I went ahead converted them from the "faulty" png format to something photoshop can read resized them to the retina resolution and it's still too big... it's smaller but still too big

You tried the easy way?
then try the second one as when i converted Back to the future hd for ipad to iphone there was no need of re sizing the images!

ohh you mean that... no I used the alternate way... I edited the plist file myself put it back into the ipa and put the ipa on my iphone and installed it... that's how I got it working in the first place

okey i tried the alternative way i got it workin but the problem is its too big...its a newspaper that i put on... but the easy way when i try to use itelepad then during converion i get an error saying my host has changed... how can i make it work?

Hey guys i need help......I've used the alternative method but when i install the app (Al Jazeera Sport) with Itools or installous it crashes when i open it....Why? :'(((((( Sorry for the bad language XD but i'm not english thank you guys

I tried to do this with the "Magic 2013" ipa app, (Magic the gathering). It didn't work, when I launch it the screen is completely black. Any solution to this problem?
