How To Jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 With Seas0nPass [Guide]

Apple rolled out yet another update to the Apple TV firmware. Many have asked if you could jailbreak the Apple device with the new 4.4.3 update. The short answer is yes. The long answer is that while you can jailbreak it, some of the optional apps used with a jailbroken Apple TV won’t work. The movie server, Plex, as well as Rowmote are not supported yet.

Before we get started, we’d like to remind you that this jailbreak is tethered. If your device loses power or needs to be restarted, you will need to redo the tethered boot steps again. Now, make sure you have the following:

Once you have the items ready, disconnect any USB devices from your computer and follow these instructions to jailbreak your Apple TV:

Step 1: Download, install and launch Seas0nPass for Windows or Mac (download links above).

Step 2: Click “Create IPSW” while holding down the Option key on your Mac.

Step 3: After Seas0nPass completes the download of all the necessary files, connect the Apple TV to your computer with the micro USB Cable. Do not attach the power cable just yet.

Step 4: Place the Apple TV in DFU mode by pressing the ‘Menu’ and ‘Play/Pause’ buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds on your Apple TV remote.

Step 5: Once iTunes restarts, confirm that a restore is in effect.

Step 6: You’re done! iTunes will confirm that the restoration process was successful.

Since this is a tethered jailbreak, following these additional steps will be necessary:

Step 1: Launch Seas0nPass and select the ‘Boot Tethered’ option.

Step 2: Connect your Apple TV with the micro USB cable once you receive the prompt. Remember, do not attach the power cable just yet.

Step 3: Once you see a rapid flashing light on your Apple TV, connect the power cable to the device.

Step 4: Place the Apple TV in DFU mode by pressing the ‘Menu’ and ‘Play/Pause’ buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds on your Apple TV remote.

Step 5: Once Seas0nPass completes in final tasks and reboots the Apple TV in the jailbroken state, disconnect the device.

Step 6: Connect the Apple TV to your TV and voila! Have fun!

The reason I decided to jailbreak my Apple TV was to create a movie server. I had many movies I had downloaded throughout the years, saved on my computer that I would love to stream wirelessly to my HDTV.

Unfortunately, most, if not all, of my movies had DivX extensions, rendering them useless with iTunes. Apple requires MP4 or their official M4V format to stream movies across their devices. Once I completed the simple jailbreak process, I was up and running the Plex server with ease. That is, until recently. Plex is not supported in this jailbreak version

Its tethered plus xbmc doesnt work on this firmware, but great to see that we are half way there!

Truthfully I did not know that apple tv was jailbreak able I want to purchase the new apple tv so that I stream movies to my hdtv

Just wondering, am I the only one getting IPSW 4.3 after downloading the 4.4.3 Seas0nPass? After it goes thru the motions, it just errors out with something about the wrong build.

I have a newer ATv 2. I am currently using handbrake to convert my movies into m4u format. Until they get plex and xbmc working with the new firmware, I don't see any benefits jail breaking it. That's just my thoughts

If you dont JB your Apple Tv you are missing out xbmc!! The best thing...with dnla you dont need to convert n all that bullshit, just stream HD content to your HD TV via SMB share,..

I love 4.3 Apple TV2 JB untethered.!!! Enjoy...

Yea but I just got mine, so it has the new firmware on it. Everywhere I am reading, xbmc and plex will not work on the newer firmware. And the jailbreak is tethered. Which really does not make a difference, I never turn it off. Bt if I have to wait for xbmc and pled anyway.......why not wait for he untether. So is there another program that will let me play all my movies without the conversion?

You can install aTV Flash and it allows you to stream movies without converting...

Is there anybody tell me how to jailbreak AppleTV2.I bought just brand new AppleTV2 from apple store.I I try to Jailbreak as mention above but i didn't enter in the DFU mode.....
Plz help me i'm new in AppleTV2 .

if you try to enter DFU mode fresh out the box, it will not work. Just plug it to your pc, lunch itunes, and let it update to current firmware. Then, go ahead and follow the above steps. BEWARE, it's a tethered jailbreak.

Damn. I have a brand new atv2 and it's on 4.3 is there any other way I can jailbreak without having to update soni can keep it untethered? It's for Xmas so there could be an untethered for the latest. But is there a way to jb it as is without updating?

4.3 is untethered already.

aTV firmwares are assign the same way as iPhone. Crapple is only seeding 4.4.3 currently

ya i connected with the PC and updated the software its firmware 4.4.3(3323).I still stucked in DFU mode(waiting for device in DFU mode).
Is there any solution to get into DFU mode .

You should only have the usb cable connecting atv to pc, wait for about 5 seconds, point remote at aTV, push and hold MENU and PLAY/PAUSE at the same time, hold those buttons for 7seconds or untill you see the front aTV light flashes twice as fast, release buttons. If your pc speakers are on you will hear a sound VIDEO ON HOW TO JAILBREAK
