Icon14 Unlock using SAM no ORIGINAL SIM NEEDED

METHOD NO LONGER WORKS!!!
APPLE HAS BLOCKED THIS METHOD AND ALSO THE IMEI CHECK

you DO NOT NEED ORIGINAL SIM CARD only you have to know what the iPhone originally belonged too (carrier that is).

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SELECT "country and carrier" by BUNDLE NAMEworks as well.

1. put in the card you want to unlock into your iphone
2. open SAM click revert lockdown to stock and click deactivate as well in utilities
3. in the main menu change method from autodetect to "country and carrier or by bundle name" select the ORIGINAL CARRIER OF THE PHONE
4. go to information copy the IMSI number in "SAM DETAILS" section then click "Spoof real SIM to SAM"
5. it will automatically change to manual now in the main window change the IMSI number to the one you copied or click select all then paste.
6. connect to itunes which will activate because you selected the original carrier not the carrier you want to unlock..
7. unplug and close itunes, in the main window of SAM Prefs slide the disable SAM.
8. plug cable back in open itunes you will now get an error close itunes and reopen then it will activate again but this time you will get reception on your phone

YES i have unlocked my iPhone to all the carriers in my country now and backed up all the activations so i can revert to whatever when i need to.

DO NOT FOR CHRIS SAKE MODIFY OR COPY ICCID NUMBERS!!! this will make your SIM card damaged, you will not be able to use it in any phone, your iphone will automatically detect the wrong carrier, you will get no SIM card installed.
the only fix is to buy a new SIM card and transfer your phone number over and a restore of your iPhone losing any 4S jailbreak you have.

ON Another note if your getting "sim card not supported" or "iphone is faulty" messages, you have selected the WRONG carrier. model numbers and country of origin do not count anymore as refurbished iPhones are sold world wide now regardless of where it originally came from.

Case in point: I have a MC318LL/A iphone 4 everyone on the net says its a US AT&T iphone 4 but it does not activate with original AT&T sim or by SAM (Auto Mode). i went through half the list of carriers in SAM. O2_UK came up with iPhone is faulty error messages in iTunes, when i got to Hutchson_AU it activated and unlocked fine.

##UPDATE## you want to know what carrier your iPhone is locked to!
Download itools (WINDOWS VERSION ONLY) at iTools on the main screen click view details and it will tell you exactly what carrier it is locked to OPERATOR =

You do realise that the Lockdown backups you have are only for the single sim you spoofed into sam and not any sim from that carrier ...

Yes so the phone will only work with those actual sims and the phone number, so changing operator would mean changing phone number. If the operator deactivates the sim due to non use then you are stuck.

It is true unfortunately
The only SIM cards that will ever work in your phone are the ones you activated it with
I activated my brothers iPhone with his T-Mobile SIM (SAM method)
My T-mobile SIM does not work!

I guess by using this method i could have made a clone of the sim I wanted to SAM activate
and I don't need the original sim to be posted international

YES but the video is confusing, people dont know what sim they should use and when. people dont even realise that you dont need the original carrier sim. bingner on twitter is saying do it this way, MuscleNerd says use Locktar_Sun method, all other sites but put their own spin to it.

This is what worked for me, and i hope it is less confusing and helps all us jailbreakers/unlockers.

I should've followed this instead of watching the video 20 times and not getting anywhere. I would've unlocked my device within 5 minutes if I followed yours (or iClarified's very similar) way.

Just a heads up: THE VIDEO IS WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS! THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO UNLOCK YOUR DEVICE AND YOU ARE GUARANTEED IT WILL WORK!

I unlocked 4s with iDownloadblog video from the first time as was very easy.
1st unlock was with iPad sim card then
2nd unlock was with my wife sim card from different provider, now i can insert my wife sim card anytime i want to make calls if I'm out of minutes.
I noticed that i can insert any same provider sim card and it works right away!!! is this normal???

Interesting??? No this is not normal the SAM Unlock only works with the SIM card you use during the unlock. so if you use a lets say T-Mobile with 123456789 phone number you cannot insert another T-Mobile sim after the unlock with different phone number and get reception.

SAM unlock will only work with the SIM card you use.

I need to verify what your saying, that a iPad sim will unlock to a carrier regardless of SIM cards phone number.
