I just purchased 3 iPhone 3GS's to use with Straight Talk (& to save ~$500/year).
I purchased the SIM cards & activation cards through Straight Talk.
All 3 iPhones are jailbroken. All three iPhones went to unlockit.co.nz for the APN settings. Of the 3 iPhones, 2 are on iOS 5.01 & the other 4.3.3. (Mine is one of the ones on 5.0.1)
Two of the 3 iPhones activated fine. The other (mine) shows "no service" as well as no phone number when I checked on the phone.
I went to ST website & it showed what my number is. I contacted them & was told everything looks fine on their end & no issues in my area with towers, etc.
They had me switch SIM cards from one phone to the other. My SIM worked in my wife's phone, but hers didn't work in mine. I then took my SIM & put it in a 5 year old unlocked GSM Razr & it worked in it.
I ain't the sharpest tack in the box, but it seems to me it's an issue with my phone.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
the APN is only for 3g service , If i was you i try with a att sim and make sure it get service if so then your problem my be phone or the ios,
strait talk work with att network you would get phone service regardless of the unlockit.co.nz or you could try to rest the network if that dont work your last shot is to restore the phone ios
hope this help
I created an IPSW through iFaith.
When I opened iTunes in DFU mode, I did the "shift + restore". After extracting the files, I got the error 3194 message.
I'm running the newest version of iTunes & I added #74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to the bottom of my hosts file.
Would restoring the phone do anything about the "No Service", though?
The SIM works in two different phones, but not this one.
I just don't know if it's an OS issue or a hardware issue.
It's got a signal now, albeit weak.
I ended up having to restore to 5.1.
Since my phone has the old bootrom, can I jailbreak without worries (& without losing GPS)?
