The hardware could be glitched up in that specific power cycle.

Try plugging it in the main then do a hard reboot.

If that fails the try and boot tethered with Redsn0w. I know you said you can't put it in DFU but I don't agree with that. Every iPhone can be put in DFU mode if the home and sleep/power button are working properly.

Try you got nothing to lose.

I've had my iPhone on charge for ages, keeps going onto the yellow screen and then back onto the apple logo, then yellow screen and so on..

Then i guess your accu is damaged.

Phone trys to boot up but dont get the power from the Accu .It needs 3548mV to boot up.

Thats why it goes from yellow to normal boot mode but fails because the power isnt available.

I think it isn't starting because I installed Sprite and restarted the phone without doing it with Reds0w

If you boot up without redsnow it doesnt start up ,thats right .

But since you are telling that your display switches between the yellow and apple logo i assume from own experience that the accu is depleeted when the yellow screen is inbound .

It stays this way until the accu is recharged to the limit capacity of the above mentioned 3548mV if this value isnt reached the boot progress stops and you are where you are in a bootloop.

It doesnt sound like to me as if it would be a normal tethered boot issue. The yellow screen isnt a part of it if you forgot to boot up untethered .Well i never heard of that when people described their issues ..

Well i might be wrong ,i dont claim iam right ,but the circumstances you told about.

According to me,Restore it using the custom IPSW 5.0.1 prepared using Sn0wBreeze with preverving baseband and jailbreak it using latest Redsn0w.

I take it that you're referring to you 3GS. It should be posted in the Device Specific section / 3GS and not in General Help.

This move is on the house, the next move will be deletion.

Your co-operation is much appreciated.
