When i first bought the phone it was working perfectly (iOS 5.0) then i jailbreaked it on iOS 5.0.1 and had some issues with the jailbreak imesseage stopped working and some other features so i updated to 5.1.1 and i cant facetime or imesseage anyone know what could be the problem?

I never pinned down what the issue was but I restored after having the same issues and it fixed it. It has to do with activation of FaceTime and IMessage.

I wish I could tell you what would fix it. I have generic answers like reset all network settings and check the settings for them blah blah but I'm sure that won't fix it. A restore is the only thing that worked for me

Sorry, i assumed my blah blah covered that portion of trouble shooting. Anyhow, I'm gonna assume from my experience and others that a restore is what he's gonna have to do to fix his issue. Or he can tinker around awhile and try other things but like I said I have a pretty decent knowledge on this device and I can only give what worked for me.. G'day mate

Bro just restore. It's gonna be quick and simple and fix the problem. I appreciate everyone's input but a quick restore and jailbreak works 9/10 times. And this issue could be multiple things.

You never reset all settings, that messes up your jailbreak and puts you in a infinite boot loop.
You can try the Reset Network Settings.
Did you remove LaunchDaemons related to iMessage?

This happened to me several months ago. I had to restore the phone back to its factory settings and not reload the same information on it. So I basically lost two years of text messages. Oh Well. Turns my iOS backup which was jail-broken before (I was jail-broken under 5.0.1 and lost the jailbreak because of this problem and now I am on 5.1) was corrupted. And no matter what I did to fix it; reset network settings and all, nothing worked. I called apple and the adviser explained it to me like this, "its like putting dirty laundry back on the phone" I ended up delete my old backups, (2 years of notes, WiFi spots and stuff were lost) but it doesn't matter. I would rather my phone working rather than some information I can get again.

He can still access his phone, at least back up all your notes and contacts etc. just back them up manually... email the notes to yourself, and sync contacts with windows or yahoo mail or something of that sort... open the iphone camera file in 'my computer' and copy and paste the photos and videos to your hard drive... THEN restore... start from scratch, DO NOT 'RESTORE TO BACKUP" and then copy your notes and contacts etc. back on and you're good to go!! it should all work well...
and if you have the same problem, then restore again but restore to backup and you're back to where you started anyway...

Been using iDevices since the original iPhone, been jailbreaking them since the beginning, but since there's so much time in between jailreaks/new devices/tweaks to fool around with, I decided to take things to the next level... Instead of fooling around, I'm taking it apart and putting it back together ten times better...
iTools is what you need! iTunes is what you need to UNINSTALL!!! iTools does what iTunes does and a hell of a lot more... Don't just copy music TO your iDevice, copy your iDevice music to your computer. Also has some great features for jailbroken users!
When you click the iTools link above, look on the top right of the page for the "ENGLISH" button!
