just went through and disabled (didnt delete just incase) some of these. mainly that crappy nike app thing. and the Braille stuff. everything seems fine on iphone 4 5.0.1 . only thing that's gone wrong is the facebook app is now broken somehow. but i dont have any hard evidence that doing anything in this thread has caused it, i will go back and see if maybe i disabled something incorrectly but other than that phone is running fine. haven't had a chance to test boot up times ect.

edit ---

i say i have no evidence because the facebook app is so shitty i think it is just fucked on its own. but going through what i disabled none of it looks like it has anything to do with any other apps. so not sure.

System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PhotoLibrary.framework

System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PhotoBoothEffects.framework.

i gave up on doing things like this too for a bit but i just done a clean restore because a sn0wbreeze custom firmware was fucking with my booting and boot times. it was taking like 3 hard resets to get my phone to turn on when i would reboot or switch it off. was driving me up the wall. now my phone is booting much faster since going stock 5.0.1 then redsn0w for jb + tweaking the hell outta the system. i like to think it helps heaps even if it does nothing at all

---------- EDIT ----------

so yeah anyone doing this do not fuck up. i was lucky i stuffed up a simple and almost useless file that did not cause a reboot/respring loop or apple boot logo freeze. that would require sshing and a pain in the ass !!

cheers for the tips i will report back on any speed increases ect that i can notice.

Deleted .lproj Files

I know how stupid I am, but I just deleted the .lproj files instead of .plists in UIKit.framework/Keyboard folder:

"
/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/Keyboard- .plists – Delete every language except yours and the Default Keyboard plist. (EN =English)
"

I just didn't see the "plists" part from the sentence above.

I kept English lproj, that's for sure, but the other lproj files are missing now.

Does it affect anything?

Thank you so much in advance.

---------- EDIT ----------

Oh great! Now, I'm stuck with the spinning wheel after the Apple logo during the boot-up. Thanks to the great background&font color combination this forum has picked, and my half-blind eyes!

Anybody out there that could help?

it will be better if someone could create an all in 1 script to remove such unnecessary apps/plists.

Alternatively, you could add the repo seen here, then add both the terminal application and then add a command line called 'remove launch daemons'.

If you are using this second method;
1) Open terminal and type 'su' then your default password which is most likely 'alpine', if it isn't that you have changed it.
2) then enter the command 'rld' which stands for remove launch daemons.
3) follow the onscreen instructions, it will tell you what each daemons is and then type either 'Y' or 'N' dependant on whether you want to disable it.
4) This places the disabled daemons into Var->Mobile->LaunchDaemonsBackup

Let me know if any problems

Did you even read my OP?
This isnt launchdaemons this is for lots of useless files etc.

There are loads of daemon threads.

Please read what I write before hijacking it.

A windows 7 netbook with Windows taken off and Ubuntu Installed works wonders ;-)

it is nice that you listed out what could be deleted without (too many) problems, but what is the point really?

it doesn't seem to save that much space, and I highly doubt it improves the speed of your phone or even the boot time (p.s. how often do you reboot your phone?)

regardless, even if I sound like a dick, it IS nice to know what may or may not be necessary to have in one's particular situation

I recently looked through tons of websites to "tweak" my netbook to make it run faster (I was running Win 7 as main OS.) None of the suggestions seemed to help, of course. But hey, at least people are putting in the effort. BTW, do not EVER by a netbook. They are HORRIBLY slow no matter what you do. I even had trouble using very resource-lite linux distros b/c of some very strange onboard graphics card (GMA500 maybe?)

Anyway, if you want a "netbook" buy an IBM X series (I had one that has lasted 8 years while being on nearly 24 hours/day.) The ONLY advantage of a netbook is battery life. The iPad *could* compete if it were able to do things that only proper OS desktops can do (and if you have a portable keyboard to go with it.)

Also, don't feel like listing examples of what a PC OS can do vs. an iPad, hopefully we are all aware of the differences)

Hey...am new to this forum. I installed iOS 6 but later downgraded to 5.0.1 jailbroken, now the ipod touch 4g is notifying me about impending iOS 6 update it downloaded on my ipod touch on its own. I simply want to remove the downloaded setup of ios 6 on my ipod touch because i think it drastically reduced my storage. its now only 2 GB something where it should easily be around 5+ GB. can anyone guide me thorougly as where the downloaded setup could be residing so I can manually delete it. I have downloaded some file system softwares where i can browse through ipod directories. but still i dont know where to search for download ios 6 setup. So help me out please. thank you all

If I have an arrow up my ass for 2 hours, is it normal? Yes, yes it is normal.

Just SSH access your device on the computer and transfer all the files back (if you have the original files). If you don't then you could beg someone to upload it for you.
