iOS6 Beta on iPhone 4 (JB'd) Tweaks Compatibility List (And my thoughts on it all!)

The iPhone 4 that I was testing on started getting an "activation error" therefore was not able to even get to my springboard... So I went back to 5.1.1 on that device... I will update this post with what people find in this thread and around the forum, if you have anything to add, post here and I'll update the original post.



So I got the iOS6 Beta the second it was released and threw it on my iPhone 4, yes, I am a developer...

After jailbreaking it, I started noticing how it's real inconvenient to have to do everything through SSH, harder to do trial and error on tweaks etc and finally today came by a list of apps that are compatible, and found out someone had made a Cydia version that works on iOS6, and work it DID!! I was having problems using various versions on mobileterminal and because it's a bit more difficult because some dependencies work, some don't... So when Cydia was released I started looking for mobileterminal, and installed the version on h7v.org (that is the source url, h7v.org) that has the title of "MobileTerminal IOS5" and it worked flawlessly... So then came the pain!! Now I got Cydia working and MobileTerminal... Found some tweaks that did in fact work but were on the "not compatible" list... One big one for example was "PreferanceLoader" which I believe is responsible for adding tweak settings in to the Settings.app but I installed it manually through DEB forcing it to install with out it's dependencies but I think I did force a few of it's dependencies in manually later, if anyone wants me to find out exactly which ones just PM me and I'll look in to it. My settings app is showing settings for all the tweaks, including infiniboard which I was real happy about, unfortunately Infinidock doesn't work, I usually have 7 but Five Icon Dock will do for now... I am still going to test Springtomize 2 and fool around with it and try to get it working... Although it's a long shot, I'm also working on a siri port on another iPhone 4, slowly making progress... First and for most I am going to work on themes after I do this post, because if themes do work, I will then start testing my iPhone 4S that I use personally, (I wouldn't dare update my 4S if I couldn't theme it!! )


So all in all, I'm confirming that many tweaks work, PreferenceLoader works, and so does IconSupport allowing numerous other icon tweaks! Check out the list below...

On that link you'll find a good list of what's compatible and what's not... Also you'll find a command to run through SSH to download the modified version of cydia and it will install it as well, along with DEB's for ICY and the modified (and working) IconSupport... So go nuts with iOS6! Because so far, everything works great... I'll update this thread with my findings as much as I can... Any questions? Also realizing that Installous worked but failed to install IPA files... The solution? iTools!! Get it from here: iTools WINDOWS, iTools MAC,
Excellent program btw, I never use iTunes other than to restore my devices... iTools does EVERYTHING!! Apart from being able to install IPA's easily for iOS6, it has many other uses as well... Import/Export Music/Photos and drag and drop files... Also opens an SSH tunnel through USB which is handy... Lots of features... Anyone with an iDevice should get this and check it out...

Also, SBSettings is working, minus the ability to hide icons... "LibHide" doesn't work, it installed for me but if I try to hide icons it crashes... Others can't get LibHide to install, just force install SbSettings and the dependancies minus LibHide and you should be ok...

Looks like they removed the command on that site to install CYDIA but here it is:

wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://wyndrepo.googlecode.com/files/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh

Just open up SSH and type in this command (or copy and paste) and let it finish... and VOILA! The site took it down and now says "DO NOT INSTALL, SUPPORT SAURIK" However I DO support SAURIK, he's awesome, no question about it... But I do think it's important to have Cydia because let's face it, it works, and it's hell of a lot easier to install packages lol SAURIK RULES!!!
I did save that cyinstall.sh and the deb file that's hosted on that wyndrepo, I believe it's a modified version of the cydia deb and that's why the site took it down... I got a backup...

Also if anyone knows of a way to "clear ram" or kill all apps in the background the way SbSettings did (because when you click PROCESSES it goes in to safe mode), I would like a tweak like that... Also a tweak I could use with Activator to respring... The option in Activator causes SAFE MODE instead of Respring, which isn't too bad because it's really the same thing, but who knows what it could cause if it's done multiple times...

Exactly, you don't got to lie to kick it. By the way, changing your iOS version and build number might help you get over some tweaks not installing.

i didnt say i lied about it... i said i only mentioned it so people dont bother me about it...

i can always get tweaks to install by force... getting them to run properly is what im aiming at... when im at home all im doing mostly is trial and error, i 'll keep reporting back on tweaks that i get to work and how i did it... i have some tweaks that people may be interested in but im at work right now, when i get home i'll go more in to detail...

can you install cr@cked apps via installous on ios6 beta using appsync 5x+??

i did install installous and appsync, work fine, but installous does NOT install any ipas! keeps saying invalid ipa.. i actually found a fix earlier today and updated the top post... use iTools!!! Go to the Applications tab, and the left side button "INSTALL" and select the IPA and POOF! Installs perfectly.... just remember some apps still dont work, its hit and miss... but MOST apps so far work, but mostly because itunes didnt want to sync them, i'm going to try the apps that failed in itunes and try it with itools and let you know....

Well said.. I appreciate that bud... I don't usually go out of my way cuz most people I know either don't care or don't know how to do any of this so it's a waste of my time... But since I started usin ios6 I figured everyone here could use the info I'm coming across while testing all these tweaks... Keep in mind I'll be testing everything again once another jailbreak comes out, or another beta, since I'm also doing this to gain knowledge towards developing and tweaking... And I believe in free knowledge... Out of all groups online I honestly see that the people here at sinfuliphone are the most knowledgable, helpful, and respectful people (for the most part lol) but this is my favourite iPhone site and always has been, wouldn't think twice of putting in this much work for anyone else...

TetherMe isn't working correctly.
The menu in Settings shows but upon tapping on it brings up a blank page where the settings are supposed to be. When enabled tethering and connect it, it just sits on "Identifying..." when it's enabling the network connection on my Windows PC.
Edit: Tether reboot the phone with redsn0w and try it again, it connects now but the tweaks setting page is still blank.

theres a few steps you have to do with the preferences to get it to work... i think you have to link library/preferences to system/library/preferences but before you do that, double check because i do remember reading somewhere about that... because in ios6 theres a few lines that are different, something about adding <dict> or moving it somewhere else in the pref file... but for me, so far the preferences are working fine... i'll see if i can find the guide and post it here for reference...

1. Go to /Library/PreferenceLoader/Preferences
2. Open up the Preference file that you want to.
3. Copy from the SECOND <dict> to the SECOND TO LAST </dict>
4. Go to /Applications/Preferences.app
5. Open Settings.plist
6. Go all the way to the bottom
7. Where it says Weibo
8. Go underneith the </dict> and paste it there
9. go to /Library/PreferenceBundles
10. Move any files/folders that are in here to /System/Library/PreferenceBundles
11. Go to /System/Library
12. Link PreferenceBundles to /Library/PreferenceBundles
13. Now when you go to /Library/PreferenceBundles it should bring you to /System/Library/PreferenceBundles
