Icon5 Download installed apps from idevice without iTunes

Is it possible to download the installed apps from the iPhone without syncing with iTunes. I known that by syncing iTunes with idevice all the installed apps are saved locally on the computer, but, I am wanting to prepare a couple of friend iPhones ready for the 4.2 release.

I have a program for photos, I have a free program for the music, just need something for obtaining the app in ipa format ready to install later.

Cydia will be best done fresh, but, it would be easier if I could obtain a listing of installed repos and cydia installs rather than going through packages and writing them all down manually...

Wonder who else wants this procedure ready for 4.2

Thank you for the suggestion, but, it does say sync with itunes after running that.

The PKGBackup is to backup and restore Cydia Packages, but, as mentioned, with upgrading to 4.2 when it is available, the idea of installing the packages will be to do them one by one to ensure they are compatible with the new IOS4.2.
Just a list of them is required really.

Aside from that..
Downloading the IPA installed Apps from iphone and store locally utility require

1. CopyTrans for Music/Video (Already Have)
2. Tansee iPhone Transfer for Photos (Already Have)
3. Tansee iPhone Transfer Contact (Already Have)
4. Needed List of Cydia Packages/Repos (REQUIRED)
5. Needed Copy of all installed IPA locally on Computer (REQUIRED)(without iTunes)

OK... So i found a program called ifunbox (which is FREE).

This can transfer the RAW installed APP Directory to local computer...

Example
0B3DAEE3-C9D7-4480-A2BF-4CF8964123C9 [FOLDER]
which is installed "F1TimingAppSP2010"

Assuming that this is the only area for the data after the install, can this then be transfered back to an iPhone, respring and viola fully working....???

It can even copy System Application..
Please hit the thanks button

Ok, so found the following way to obtain a list in a txt file format

1. Open mobile terminal (or connect to iPhone/iPod via ssh)

2. enter the command (without quotes): "dpkg --get-selections > installed-apps.txt"

Now a text file in /var/mobile called installed-apps.txt that lists ALL your installed packages.

Also. /var/lib/dpkg/status Open status file or copy it to save elsewhere.
Please hit the thanks button

after exhausting searching and searching, and reading and searching, there seems to be no way to save a copy of an app installed on iphone (YET). most software will let you access the ios file system but to save the installed app as an .ipa file is not possible through these softwares. if the app is located in (eg- funbox) "root - user applications", then right click save to .ipa format to PC is enabled. unfortunatly this ricght click option is not avail throughout the rest of the filing system (very stupid indeed!) it's just another way to hamper our good intentions to make our lives easier. - tatoorob
