Iphone 3gs, trying to restore stuck in a muddle!
Hi all,
Been reading this forum and all the guides which have got me some way,but i am really stuck now and i don't know if my iPhone is bricked or if i am being dumb at some point of the guides i read,
Bascially i am trying to fix iPhone 3gs for my parents, its been working fine until a restore was done in iTunes and since then it just hangs on the apple logo,i have tried a restore from DFU mode which goes fine and then the phone shows in iTunes but hangs on the apple logo on the screen, tried without a sim in and it asks me to activate the phone, when i put the sim it activates but still apple logo, Could the sim be corrupt? i can get a boot log from itools if that helps
the baseband is 05.16.06-6.4_M3S2
Firmware is 5.1.1
Itools says the phone is unjailbroken. (when you select desktop on itools,it crashes every time)
I wondering if it could be the battery maybe?
Sorry for the lengthy first post but i am really really st uck!!
Thank you so much

Thank you for the advice,i have now noticed that phone is barely holding any charge and when connected to itunes there is no charging logo next to the phone,so at the moment i can't go into dfu mode or anything, the phone seems to get to about 3% charge accordingto itools, even when plugged into the wall for a hour or so? i did try a differnet sim,and now see a phone number etc in itunes which is different from before! i have downloaded tiny umbrella and tried to kick into recovery from their, but no luck at all
Thank you in advance

You can always enter the dfu mode from everywhere ,doesn't madder if the iOs is loaded or not.
So i would assume that either the usb cable is broken or the Battery had already its best times in the past. You can replace the battery for a small money arround 20 bucks .
And i think it is normal if you put in another sim card that itunes shows a diffrent number to b4.
You can use Redsn0w to hactivate it without any sim @ all ..
What do you want to know exactly ?

Thank you both of you for the replies
Just trying to work out really, why i can jailbreak with redsnow and its sucessfull and it remains on the pineapple logo and if i do a stock firmware restore i get the apple logo, more and more i am thinking its the battery and it just timed with the itunes restore!
i got redsnow running now and that might help!
Redsnow worked fine, stuck on pinapple logo,Battery read at 100% in itunes and then went done to 2!

Hi all,
So after a bit of trouble with a corrupt sim card to begin with, this is where i have go to
Phone Restores fine through itunes and also Jailbreaks fine using redsnow, both of them end in the apple logo,i have used tiny umbrella to kick out of recovery mode, but this seems to still end in the apple logo
But what i have noticed, the minute i take the usb (or a few minutes after) ,the battery symbol come up,i downloaded itools and plugged the phone into a wall charger for a hour or so,checked the battery on itools and it was still 3%
What you guys think?
