Maximizing performance configuration

There have been a couple of recent threads about maximizing battery life and free memory and how people set up their phones to run a certain way. This has got me interested in finding the most efficient configuration of apps/tweaks and settings to make our phones run at their highest capacity. i have been experimenting with backgrounder and multicleaner and an assortment of other apps designed to increase performance but I am curious what you have found that has worked well for you.

Do you think backgrounder is still useful on 5.1.1?
Is quickdo a more efficient alternative to activator?
Would it be better to use springtomize 2 or individual tweaks?

I am interested in hearing what you have found that has increased the performance of your phone and maybe we can compile everything into one how to/tutorial. I am interested in anything that you feel has made your phone better from a performance standpoint. Lets hear what you got guys

The secret to maximizing battery life & free memory (ram) is to keep your tweaks to the minimum. Limit your installed cydia apps to your needs. What you use the least, uninstall it. Why? Because tweaks (some) consume more battery & takes up ram. Also, monitor what apps are memory hogs & take note what runs in the background. The more tweaks you have, the more it uses battery & ram. An example is winterboard that's why some modifies their /coreservices instead of using winterboard.

To free memory, i removed unwanted launchdaemons and langpacks. Basicreese has a thread to further remove files to increase more space you may want to check it out. Remember also the basic tips to improve battery life by turning down your brightness level, turn off 3G when not in use, notification off, location services, autodim, etc

I've heard that backgrounder is less useful on iOS 5+ since the developer haven't updated it yet that's why i use zephyr now. Although zephyr do not background your apps but somewhat caches them. I use quickdo+activator to have more options. Springtomize is keeping up with updates so it performs better & better. It's a matter of trial and error and preference. Use what suits you better.
i may disagree violently with what you say but i will fight to death your right to say it

I tried the removal of launch demons as per the ones recommended on this site and found my device battery usage died very quickly now they are back no issues. I find some games drain my device bloody fast. In relation to the tweaks I have depends on the theme Im using at the time.

Only major issues I would find are when we first jailbreak and I tweak the hell out of my device to see if I can get better functional ability and have to wait for tweak to catch up with the new firmware.

On occasion the order of install I think is important and if we knew this then fewer issues.

When I get back will list what I have and the settings I use. Then if you do discover what's good we can all copy it.

my procedure
restore fresh and jailbreak
first things i install is mobile terminal, ifile and syscleanpro ...all i have on my pc ..so i install them without wifi and then change my mobile terminal passwd and then using syscleanpro i remove all but japanese

then i install my siri gui ..tried all for now.. skyra!n is my choice
after.. i use ifile to make some system changes ..e.g battery %..homescreen background ..and some few more

then i install xbackup..which i use 2 restore all my paid and free cydia tweaks
then with ifile i install all cracked tweaks ..thanks to sinful

after all cydia apps have been installed .. i run syscleanpro again!

at this stage i dont configure any of d tweaks installed

i transfer my music first with itunes..then after a reboot i install my apple store apps..games tom tom etc
then i transfer my books and pictures

when all that is done ..i start configuring my tweaks d way i want them
once done d final thing i do is run rld *remove launch daemons ..from insanelyi*
and i am good to go

this is my strict procedure ..will appreciate any suggestion to aid this

i use quickdo and this has made me eliminate d use of multicleaner and sbsetting
if i can get rid of activator i would but i dont know how..some tweaks depend on it

Some very good advice above. I use springtomize 2 and color keyboard as the only "theme" type cydia mods. Avoid winterboard. In sbsettings activate the status bar available memory display. When its low kill everything in background.

I also restore about every 4-5 months. keeps things snappy. I notice extended wait time ( 6-7 seconds) when opening things like sms or contacts when its time to restore.

GL!!

As a developer and somebody who actually knows their shit, the fastest configurations are these (in order of best-good):
1. Unjailbroken device
2. Jail broken device w/out MobileSubstrate installed
