Turn off your host file, respring, turn on your host file repsring, that should tell you the actual space used.

I just disabled the host file, rebooted, waited a good 15 seconds with SBSettings up to let all daemons load and settle and got 279Megs free. Turned on the host file rebooted, did the same time and got 278. While typing this it went up to 280. I don't think the -1 or the +2 are anything to do with the host file, its probably apps freeing up vmem, either way ... no big memory loss.

Not sure why, your right it makes no sense, but for me it really does hog the ram!

Ps. Adblocker is fine, no memory leeks at all!

when i download the "hosts" file it's come with Hosts."TXT" i cant over write it.. in itools cause when in itool i drag and drop it's showing to file one with "hosts" original and the other one is "hosts.txt" using firefox, and chrome the mediafirelink and drop box still getting .txt for host after download...can some one please show me steps im new to this .
and what do he mean by..
"To install.deb file navigate to /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall
Then reboot device TWICE

No new icons will be added but hosts file will be changed to block ads"

This Hosts file is made up of different entries like the loop back address, then one space, two spaces, and then a Tab followed the the Domain Address. Looking at the original file, it's contents uses Tabs, That goes along with what Apple uses in the Mac OS hosts file, and the PC uses two spaces. You would have to rework the hosts file to make the changes. Maybe this might help

When I downloaded it to my PC, I just deleted the TXT file extension, so It matched the file on my device

sorry, but both this and SBAdblock toggle just doesn't seem to work anymore. Ads that were once gone now re-appear, even in apps.

noticed the dropbox link is not updated, (and the previous link points to a different file via winhelp2002. Are there any plans of updating a droplink (or other file method) ?? If not, we have to change the SBSetting/adblock to be more 'static'

nope, I'm wrong (I just have WAY TOO MANY host files). The old drop box link seems https://dl.dropbox.com/s/fyjjw5n8slxblry/hosts?dl=1 seems to point to flat winhelp2002 file from May 23-2012. The new link on the first page is a winhelp file from july3rd? Right, (or am I losing my mind?). If this is correct, is there a new dropbox file link?

Here's what I did to download from the EU link. Just google anonymous proxy and pick a few of the free websites that do that then put the link in and it should go. Then simply copy the download link and paste it into a new browser window since those free proxy sites do not allow downloads.
