updating Ipad 1 from 3.2.1 to 5.1.1 and keep basebanc 06.15.00
Hi, I just bought an Ipad 1 64gb 3g AT&T that has old firmware at 3.2.1 with baseband 06.15.00. Can I update it to 5.1.1 and preserve baseband at 06.15.00 for unlocking purpose or baseband version doesn't matter for Ipad? Thank you.

Custom firmware should do the trick. Whats the new iPad 1 baseband? 07.11.01?

Hi Fight9, thank you for your reply, the Ipad 1 i just bought has firmware 3.2.1 and baseband 06.15.00 (unlockable), I think new firmware 5.1.1 has baseband 07.11.01 (not unlockable). I don't know much about Ipad but since it a 3G version I like it to able to unlock it when I update the firmware (I heard that AT&T GSM version is factory unlock) but then I am not sure if I update to 5.1.1.

Also, what program do I need to run to do custom firmware. I don't think redsnow work becaust when I try the option 'perserve baseband' it sait for Iphone only.

According to Steve Job, all iPad 3G is unlocked. You can use it with any gsm carrier. Check out this YouTube that I find from another post

Even thought I had he 3G version, I had never tried with another sim(dont have one laying around) and don't kow if it really work. So, take it with your own risk! =p
