AT&T To Restrict Or Possibly Charge For FaceTime Feature Over 3G/LTE In iOS 6?
AT&T To Restrict Or Possibly Charge For FaceTime Feature Over 3G/LTE In iOS 6?
Over the past few months, with all of their new data throttling policies and publicly announced distain towards services such as iMessage and Skype, AT&T has started to become one of the most restrictive carriers in the United States.
Last month, during Apple’s announcement of the next major installment to their mobile operating system, iOS 6, it was revealed that customers will be able to use FaceTime over their cellular data plan. A feature feature that has been suggested and requested since FaceTime was first announced alongside the iPhone 4.
Now however, with yesterday’s release of iOS 6 beta 3, some developers are reporting a new dialogue box that prompts them to call AT&T or visit their site to “enable FaceTime over cellular”. Moreover, even select Verizon users are encountering a similar prompt when trying to enable FaceTime over their cellular data plan (3G in this case). But, not all users on Apple’s latest beta are subject to the new FaceTime dialogue popup.

I prefer to pay $300 for a phone contract that simply gives me unlimited everything and have peace of mind than pay for every single thing the device can offer you and be restricted by data usage or minutes... at&t is sickening me every time I read something like this... and before someone tells me that is too much $$$, I currently pay $157 for my service with at&t that will end on September this year. I'm still on a grandfathered data plan but everything else isn't limited... I have considered straight talk but my data usage is simply too much for them (normal monthly usage is between 8 and 10 G... Sprint in Puerto Rico isn't that good, but tmobile doesn't work where i live and where I work... but it is slightly better than at&t... but back to the topic...
Only those (the vast majority) who has their iphone jailbroken can find a great loophole to that... 3g unrestrictor. Im not so sure if they would find a way to eliminate tango video calls but that in my mind is another loophole unless they manage to block it. in the end, there will be a solution to this "mess"
Under-steer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and over-steer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.
WTF so we pay for data plan and they want us to pay seperate for facetime? they cant do that right? whats next they charge for imessage?
At&t wants to extract as much money from their customers as they can. And penalize them for using more than what they want us to use.
I swear that at&t put me in a permanent throttle.

Don't worry people that will be cracked when phone is jailbroken. I do not worry much about What AT&T will do, I know they suck already they just want profits and pairing up with Crapple insures that. There is a similar popup when you try to enable tethering as well and they created tetherme to bypass that so I do not see why they cannot bypass this nonsense either.
The real question is why haven't someone tried to hack the data bases in our IPhone's? It we can gain control back to our phones options and rights, they won't be able to touch us. Or I'm kinda curious if apple will have something like this but maybe cheaper. I said maybe!!!
Someone will find a way to enable this feature then AT&T will find a way to detect it just like tethering. I've been warned by AT&T about my tethering twice already while using tetherme.

for the jailbroken there is a solution: 3G Unrestrictor
For the non jailbroken: Tango Video Calls
unless they can find a way to block that loophole
