even though government has taken down sites (megaupload, demonoid) and attacks websites (isohunt, piratebay), can the new megaupload be actually safe from them
i have seen a preview of their new music website and i am amazed it is pretty fast, but time will tell
Hubris. Some motherfuckers are always trying to skate uphill. Apparently he didn't learn his lesson.
You have to know when you have had a good run, take your winnings off the table, and walk away.
So far we have seen that nobody is safe. They are willing to spend lots of money to shut down sites, only to have another site appear. Makes sense to them I guess, but we will see what happens.

Seems as if he wants another taste of his house being raided and him and his family being lead out of their bedroom's at gun point.

The raid of his home was legal. They had a duly sworn out warrant.
They did not find the evidence they would have hoped for though.

Megaupload/Megaporn was being used for unabashed illegal file sharing and streaming.
There was no denying that. As a matter of fact, given their affiliate programs they almost seemed to encourage the activity.
Accounts were never banned no matter how many DCMA infraction complaints an uploader received.
Where I have fault is that the FBI sweeping and indiscriminately seized all the servers, shutting down all accounts and locking out legal user from access to their files leaving them with no recourse or ability to retrieve their material.
I guess one could of course hire a lawyer and petition the government, but I do not know how far along that request would go.
But that is what I mean exactly. Look at all that they did just to get this guy. We are talking about files on computer servers and file sharing. They guy is not a terrorist, not armed, not anything that you would say he is dangerous and they needed to go in with machine guns and helicopters? Is he killing people or a serious threat, of course not he is a threat to someone's profits which is more valuable I guess.
I wasn't questioning the amount of people, just the delivery of the people. No need for the BLACKHAWK when they showed seconds later people had all ready entered the compound by vehicle. Was the Queen and 007 in there as well ??
Not only that, but Dotcom is not Bin Laden, nor was he armed or storing stockpiles of weapons to harm other people. He hosted a website and yet he is treated like a terrorist? Soon that will be the standard for those caught streaming video, not to mention kicking down your door and taking you to jail just like in this video here------------> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0ql0uuSb0Q

That's a very naive point of view TBH, you don't know if he had a stockpile of weapons or not, and I doubt the Police did, you say he hosted a website, so then why the need of a small army to act as his security? why the need for a bolthole? if all he was doing was hosting a website? What makes you think he was treated as a terrorist? from what I saw in the newsclip he was arrested just like any other criminal suspected of commiting a major crime, I've never known the police to approach someone and say " I say old chap, would you mind awfully if we arrested you, that's if it's not to inconvenient?", get real, it was a major bust.
osama bin ladin has been a CIA agent since the russian invasion of afghanistan in 1982.
as for the arrest of kim dotcom, yes the raid was illegal and that is one of the main reasons why he wont be going to jail. that is why he can not be taken out of the country and indicted here in the USA.
people need to start reading more instead of what they heard from the media.
Major bust? LOL, Usually people go to jail for years after a major bust. As King Kaos said it was an illegal raid to begin with. Read about his past and you will know why he would need a security team. He was tired of being harassed. I don't even like Dotcom to begin with he is shady himself, but I do not like even more what's going on. The raid was illegal period, and that I have a problem with and soon these things will be normal and routine for every citizen and everyone will be fooled into accepting it, just like you.

I assume you are replying to me, first things first, I was not commenting on whether the raid was legal or not, and I don't really care, that's for lawyers to argue about, what I was commenting on was the operational way in which the raid was carried out, and it looked proportionate to me, I have spent many years in the security industry and whenever we carried out an operation like this we always worked on a 3-1 ratio, in other words 10 occupants = 30 snatch squad, depending on the circumstances that could sometimes be as high as 6-1. You do know that this guy isn't accused of swapping a few songs on a torrent site right? I think any law enforcement agency that busted an illegal multi million $$$ business would class it as major. The only way I would be fooled into thinking this was normal would be if everyone was involved in major crime, so no, not just like me.
only thing they could get kim dotcom for is tax fraud because he made millions of dollars and didnt even do his tax returns. but as for the raid itself:
illegal spying on victims
illegal/forced entry to private residence
court warrant date and reason was wrong
unlawfull taking of personal items
apparently the list goes on. the court order was issued in USA by the FBI and carried out in another country. FBI has no jurisdiction and should of used INTERPOL instead.
Yes L8ter, we are going to see lots more of this you can count on it.
Yes Classy56 I know what he is accused of but it is not like he was there swapping the files himself. You see it your way from a security perspective, but I look at it from another angle. These things have a way of setting precedents for much smaller things. They use these things as examples to gain support for their cause and further limit the rights of everyone, then you have more reasons to spy on everyone. Give it time, you will see.

Not really interested in who was doing what, but I think your view is very simplistic, for example, do you expect me to believe the Colombian drug barons are innocent and blameless because they don't actually stand on street corners selling drugs? You believe in shock tactics that if it is done once, it will be done all the time, so if you have an unpaid parking ticket expect a swat squad with choppers and dogs to raid your house, really do you know how silly that sounds? Some people thrive on scaremongering, I am not such a person.
