I have to agree. And glad to see some Mac heads running around here. Multi is the man. No doubt. Always knows his stuff. I have been on macs for over 20 years. And yes. You an cram 2 ssd's and an Hhd into an iMac. The pro is always going to be the money. Especially if our attempting gaming and power computing, like. Torrent dl and video conversion. Just can ot beat that quad core Great tips here, great help, and great links.

On getting games, Well, I have always used serial box. Easiest way. Download a tral version, open up serial reader, or box, put in the game, and bam...generates a key for you. Used to be the only way when online speeds sucked for torrent site. Mainly due to non seeders.. They update the serial box codes monthly by the way

any particular reason why? I checked out the non-retina display pro's, and i must say the air display seems more crisp and bright for some reason...is it just me or is that the case? the retina display one, 4.5K is steep for a computer even tho it is with a thunderbolt display, but still, thats out of my league. the most i would pay, is 3.5K but that has to be with display and taxes and all that crap, which is still a rediculous price, but id swing for that.

If you plan on getting a Thunderbolt display, then why does it matter how crisp the screen is? The screen is a big part of a computer but what is under the keyboard is much more important. If you plan on doing anything processor heavy, you are going to want the Pro. I'll admit, the Airs are great computers for surfing the internet and writing term papers. However, when it comes to wanting to download torrents, play a game, convert videos, and run a virtual machine; the Pro could do all that at the same time. I have a 2.7 Ghz i5 Quad-core and it does that with ease. I play Windows games in a VM with little to no lag.

---------- EDIT ----------

I forgot to mention graphics cards. You don't some integrated Intel graphics card if you can help it.

Well screen is important to me because of the fact that im 50% on the go, so it is important to me...is there a big difference in screen between the retina and non-retina? because non-retina is pretty much a grand cheaper, and the non-retina can be upgraded which i do have several ssd's laying around.

I wouldn't spend the extra money on the retina. It's not worth it in my opinion. Plus the fact that you are getting a Thunderbolt display makes it even less important. Buy the regular Pro with a regular 1TB HDD and use the data doubler kit from OWC to replace the optical drive with an SSD. Put the OS on the SSD and you would have a damn nice laptop with lots of storage. You can even get an external USB enclosure for the optical drive.

If I was to buy a laptop, that's what I would do. The Retina just doesn't seem worth it for all the extra money. A few years down the road you can buy a new one when the retinas become cheaper.

And that's the honest truth. Point is, you want he bang. The screen is nice enough on the non retina to watch a hd movie and enjoy it. Bt can you watch that movie while converting a movie, and downloading 6 more. And then have it streaming to 2 apple tv's at the same time? The air? No. The quad core pro, yes. But in reality...this is all personal preference. Buy what you think is right. For the price of the non retina you can have both an air and a pro. Sheesh. It I do know it's a tough decision. I will always choose performance tho.

And multi.....wasssssap. Just been working my ail off. Trying to get back into supporting my boys, and gals. Damn having a kid really takes it out of you. Son is 2 1/2 now. So I am getting back involved here and there. You already know.

Hope everyone is good here.

And elite. Make the decision that best suits your needs my friend. Regardless of our wants, or opinions. At the end of the day....it's your money, and your computer, or pers.......... So do what's best for you. I think you have been given a plethora of information from some qualified coolies. Now make he move bro

Thanks guys I appreciate the help and input I will see what my decision will be soon lol Obviously the Pro is better quality in performance, all depends on screen. I love the Air for its design and all, plus the screen is better on it then on the non-retina pro. The one thing I HATE about mbp's is the fact that the keyboard is there, the speakers are on the side, but there is SOOOO MUCH room on the computer's base and its all empty, idk lol

im assuming the non-retina display pro, correct? is it hard to upgrade ram? because I was thinking of doing that myself as well, I have 16GB ram in chips laying around (2 x 8G, how do you like the display on it, is the display clearer, more crisp, brighter on the air then it is the pro?
