That's an outdated method for fixing push notifications as of iOS 4.3.3.

First of, check if Push Notifications isn't functioning by downloading "iPusher" from the appstore. Launch it and tap the test button; if it shows a pop-up implying push notifications work fine, then that's the case and push notifications isn't the problem. On the contrary, if it remains at "Please Wait...", then Push Notifications isn't functioning on your iPhone and you will need to carry out the following step:
1.) Open Cydia and add the "Bingner" source:
-------------------------------------
http://repo.bingner.com/
-------------------------------------
2.) From the "Bingner" source, install the "SAM" package along with it's dependencies, repring the iDevice
3.) Open "SAMPrefs" from springboard

(MUST BE CONNECTED TO A WiFi NETWORK FOR THE FLOWING TO WORK)

4.) Tap "Utilities", tap "Revert Lockdown to Stock" and tap "De-Activate iPhone (clear push)"
5.) Disconnect then reconnect iDevice to computer
6.) Open iTunes and it will officially activate your iDevice and fix push notifications
Confirm it's working using iPusher.

You probably never added any of your friends to your "Close Friends" list or turned on notifications for the close friends list. I get notifications for all "close friend" activities.

Hey MrElectrifyer
I have an iPhone 4, (iOS 5.0.1 firmware 04.10.01), unlocked using a Gevey Sim. The phone works fine except that I don't get any notifications from any apps unless I'm actually using the app. E.g. I would not know if someone message me on Facebook, Whatsapp or kik messenger unless the app is actually open and I'm currently using it. Someone told me it is because of the Gevey Sim.
Question: The suggestion you posted earlier, will that help in my case?
If not, what is the best solution for my problem.
Eager to get a reply.

It should work in your case as last time I checked, push notifications aren't dependent your carrier; so long as you have an internet connection, push notifications should work.

My ipad and iphone go off at the same time. Some times if there is a notification, non go off. Their system or app in general is at fault

Hopefully this whole Facebook Apple "friendship" will result in better facebook integration in the iOS.

Indeed, there is a noticeable difference in performance and thats good. Planning to keep this version until i'm convinced they can do better rather than make a mess of it
