when u select Boot and it asks you for the iPhone3.1_5.01_9A405_Restore.ipsw, can that be from any one that matches it, or do i need my specific one, which i do not have

also when i tried loading the one i downloaded , it gave me "unable to recognize specified ipsw" "fingerprint ..."

ok, i can confirm that this software does in fact still work. however i dont think that it works on windows xp. after trying for over week with alot of frustrastion i decided to try my store computer than is running windows 7, i downloaded gecko toolkit, i downloaded redsnow and i downloaded ipod4 ipsw 5.0.1, and it went through the process smoothly and with no errors on the very first attempt. so if your running windows xp and getting errors, then try a computer with windows 7. hope this info helps someone.

@juana4eva, to the best of my knowledge the gecko toolkit doesnt currently support iphone 4S. so if your phone is locked with a passcode then your prolly out of luck. can you ask the person you got the phone from to try and remember the passcode? thats your only hope at this point
