[help] upgrading iOS 5.1.1

I want to update my iPhone to iOS 5.1.1
I had downloaded custom 5.1.1 Ipsw , redsnow ..!!!
But when I select Ipsw file in custom Ipsw of redsnow , it says "CANNOT READ FILE FROM IPSW"
I faced same problem when I used snowbreeze!!!

In both cases creating custom Ipsw fails.

Please guide any solution!!!!!

I highly recommend using iFaith to make a custom Ipsw. You can jailbreak with redsnow after. Worked for me when i had the same problem as you.

Yes it will.
And i agree with Yumraaj, read a few threads before attempting to do anything. Youtube also helps

Can u tell step by step process for updating to 5.1.1 preserving BB with IFAITH
I have currently jailbroken iPhone 4 on 4.1 iOS!!!

My main problem with ifaith is SHSH blobs.....
Don't know what to do...!!

Why are u using iFaith ?? Fuck that, just use tinyymbrella to save SHSH and redsnow to update and preserve BB using custom IPSW.

At the time i had the same problem, Tinyumbrella wasn't able to save my SHSH and iFaith came in really handy. However i agree with you, Tinyumbrella should be a first choice

All methods failed
So made custom Ipsw of 5.0.1
But when I am restoring then iTunes gives error 1602 or something.
I reinstalled iTunes , rebooted pc but same error comes everytime

go to tiny umberlla ---> advanced tab and unchek : set host to cydia on exit
then try again restoring using custom ipsw

re-do the DFU mode with ireb r5 if i doesnt work--- pwn dfu with redsnoww

1602 and 1611 indicate a driver error from iTunes.

1604 something is wrong with the usb port dock or the cable.
