Hello, i would appreciate some guidance in this tweak.

i am on iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1. i used Corsair1274’s 64 MB split files---> Firmware 5.1.1 Mod4.rar. i used cyberduck to move files on phone and gave proper permissions & rebooted phone.

on reboot it didn’t create any files in /private/var/vm folder, once i clicked on “Tap to Free” in Omni State via NC it created “iphone_swap0 Size 64.0 MB” after while it created “iphone_swap1 Size 64.0 MB” but after that it created “iphone_swap2 Size 128.0 MB” and “iphone_swap3 Size 256.0 MB”.
soon i was put into safe mode, is that normal?

i was under impression every new swap files would be 64 mb.

can i edit “com.apple.virtualMemory.plist” in some way so it would create every new swap in 64 MB?
do i need to use “512 MB---> Firmware 5.1.1 512MB.rar” instead?

as some of OP mentioned some cydia tweaks my cause adverse effect while using them together?
what one might consider those tweaks? i am looking for some examples, like me using “weather icon”? is that considered one of those tweaks?

i have only removed following Launch Daemons
Quote:
com.apple.DumpBasebandCrash.plist
com.apple.chud.chum.plist
com.apple.chud.pilotfish.plist
com.apple.mobile.softwareupdated.plist
com.apple.OTACrashCopier.plist
om.apple.OTATaskingAgent.plist
com.apple.softwareupdateservicesd.plist
com.apple.Springboard.SetupHelper.plist
com.apple.sharktrace.plist
com.apple.datamigrator.plist
com.apple.wapic.plist
do you think any of those will cause safe mode? i have not removed any files or applied any other manual tweaks.

Normally it's only 2 64mb files and one 128mb swap file. A 256mb swapfile shouldn't be there and I suggest the 512 version instead

I ran into the problem of my dynamic_pager not creating the swap files on my iPod Touch 4g... And this is how I fixed it!

com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist - Change "Ownership" to the following:

Owner: -> root
group: -> mobile

This fixed my issues and I am now getting 200mb max. Thanks again! This will help me and my multitasking problems >

P.S:
Firmware: 5.1.1
Swap File size: 512mb

This may be a little late, but I used the 256mb file on my iPod Touch 4g running ios 5.0.1. I followed the guide exactly, except now my iPod won't boot. It sticks on the apple logo for about 3 minutes, then shows the respring wheel and freezes. I tried deleting the files but it still freezes every time...any ideas?

I was on 5.0.1 when I first tried this, but I don't think it should get you in a boot loop. Maybe you did something wrong.

Guys quick help. Do I have to activate Vram after every reboot by using "Free Up Memory"?
Or just the first time and whenever I reboot my device it would already be active?

No. Just free up after you install it; every reboot after that is just optional to free up memory.

FYI
256MB Swap version works flawless on iphone 4s

the 512 mod started to cause lag after a few hours and then started cashing to safe mode

the 256b Mod so far has been running smooth going on 2 days now

so if one doesn't work try the other it may work

Go to Cydia/manage/edit/add and add the following source: cydia.myrepospace.com/iPr0Hacker let it reload, then search for Virtual Memory (64mb). Then install and reboot, then with SBSettings use free up memory.

---------- EDIT ----------

The 64 version works flawless on iPad 1/2/3 and iPhone 2G/3G/3GS/4 and all iPod models. Thanks to iPr0Hacker for putting it on your repo!

Wow didn't believe this gonna work. I'm on 190MB with the iPod Touch 4G 5.1.1. Used the new 5.1.1 by Consair. Instructions worked flawlessly.
