Does anyone knows how to get data and mms on straight talk IOS 6

I tried editing the plist files using ibackupbot but it doesnt work cause when ibackupbot reboot the iphone to "change the plist file " the plist files gets overwritten to default

there are a couple of threads about this already but, as i have tried, none seem to work on iphone 4 ios 6 gm. i also have tried the edited the .plist list files using ibackupbot but after a reboot, it chances back. unlockit only works with internet/data. you have to manualy edit the apn. i was looking for ways to do it without jailbreaking but at the end i had to jailbreak it and install tetherme to edit the apn setting. which that way worked. but you have to jailbreak it and it is a tethered jailbreak tho. i think its something about the ios 6 thats making it hard for ppl on iphone 4 have mms, i mean i have straight talk and At&t. even with at&t, i get no mms and hve to manualy edit the apn. the same with straight talk. I hear ppl talk about IOS 6 and no problems but they on iphone 4S. i could be wrong, but i really think theres a problem with ios 6 on iphone 4. but ima wait until the 19th for the offical release of ios 6.

10/3/2012 UPDATE: I can confirm that this also works on the iPhone 5.

pList editing in iOS 5 and restoring with iBackupBot on a non-jailbroken iPhone has never worked for me. Something in iOS always resets the APNs to the non-working default "phone" settings. It does the same thing in iOS 6 too.

The only way I can get data & MMS working on a non-jailbroken iPhone is by:

1. Opening the Notes app (or any other stock app)

2. Going to Settings > General > Network
* In iOS 6, go to Settings > General > Cellular

3. Taking the Straight Talk SIM out and putting in a T-Mobile SIM (can be brand new & unactivated, which I used on mines)

4. Go into Cellular Data Network when it shows up

5. Immediately put the Straight Talk SIM back in

6. Multitask between Cellular Data Network and the Notes app back and forth until a signal from Straight Talk comes in and the default non-working data & MMS APN are automatically entered.

7. Once the APNs show up, edit them manually

8. Go toggle Airplane Mode on and off, and reboot the phone

Data and MMS now work fine.

UPDATE NOTE: If for some reason the Cellular Data Network doesn't show up and you have an iPhone locked to one carrier, iOS may go back to the gray initial setup screen (don't worry, your phone's settings or anything else won't get reset) or display "Activation Required". If it does this, don't do anything. Put the original SIM back in and wait for your phone to get a signal bar again. Once it does, QUICKLY continue through the setup (or unlock your phone if you got the "Activation Required" popup) and go back to where you'd find Cellular Data Network in Settings. It should show up there for a few seconds.)

I can confirm 100% that this method still works in iOS 6 GM.

omg i have spent two days trying to figure out how to get ios 6.0 to downgrade back to 5.1.1 I finally got it to so that i could have my mms back. Now, If i want to get my contacts and stuff back and i hook up to itunes, will it reset my settings for my mms and my unlock?

Thanks for the info CyPhErLoUs. Even though I'm not on ST anymore, I did almost the same way as u explained it with the SIM card sawp. I thought since I have a unlocked iPhone, my days of firmware problems were over. iOS 6 changed the game lol... N e one else having problems with mms or data, fellow this steps and it will work.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a T-Mo card. Any SIM card (besides AT$T of course) should work.

do you guys think that sim swap works as good as the plist edit using ibackupbot ??? i personally think that method was a lot better >>>>i really hope someone come up with something that force the plist file to stay the way we edit it .......damn ios 6 after you change and restore with ibackupbot changes it to default again

i see they are updating ibackupbot hopefully the make it change the plist file and force it to stick like that on the phone......i really like the ibackupbot method to make the DATA and MMS work.......that damn ios 6 man !!!!

WELL LETS WAIT AND SEE IF SOMEONE COMES WITH A SOFTWARE TO FOR THAT DAMN IOS 6 TO LET PEOPLE EDIT THE PLIST FILE WE NEED TO EDIT TO GET MMS AND DATA WORKING......I HOPE I T DOESN'T TAKE TOO LONG !!!!!!!!
