If it's on day one. Then it would HAVE to be an unused exploit that was saved and never fixed in iOS 6. So in other words its a Soft-jailbreak and is NOT hardware based (good luck trying to exploit the hardware especially with a new processor!). It wouldn't surprise me if it was tethered and a good number of native apps weren't working either.
But hey it's pretty damn good for step 1.

I'm good with my iphone 4s 5.1.1 I won't be getting the iphone 5. However I will upgrade to ios6 once a jailbreak is released. In may 2013 I will be getting the latest samsung phone... I'm done with iphones... I love the os, but fuck apple and their bullshit.

It's good news, but let's see how long it takes before there is a release. This feels almost way too fast, especially for a new phone. So basically Apple spent all this time working on the new A6 chip in house and upgrading IOS 5.1.1 to IOS 5.1.2 (AKA 6.0) to have it Jailbroken so fast? Apple's chips were made by outside companies before, but this A6 was all conceived in house, and Comex was helping with the security so I am finding it a bit hard to believe. Anyway, it is still progress lets see where this goes.

Well if this jailbreak takes months ( for the A6 ) or even worse if the A6 cannot be jailbroke.
That will end my love affair with iPhones.
My wife just upgraded from ip4 to the Samsung GS3. That thing is looking better and better. She was ready for something different after 3 iPhones and IOS is the same from every version.
I kinda talked her into it so I can get some in house time with one (s3) to help me decide.

Tried to buy a second user "jailbreakable" iphone 4 on eBay for my daughter. Practically every bugger selling one has restored with IOS 6. Bet they didn't save their BLOBs to Cydia. I'll wait til IOS 6 is Untethered for A4.
Meanwhile, I'm still enjoying my IP4 on 5.1.1, and beginning to fall in love with my Samsung GS3. I've tried several different cooked ROMS, (Try THAT with an iPhone) but so far, am happy with Stock "Ice Cream Sandwich"
There STILL isn't a jailbreak for the APPLETV 3, so my AppleTV2 has doubled in value.
If iPhone 5 follows this example, then it's a useless piece of crap.
Just my 2cents (pence)

Go look in the for sale section here. there are tons of a4 devices that are for sale, many are even unlocked as well. I have a relative looking to sell his as soon as his iPhone 5 ships.
