Apple's new system "lockdown" begins in iOS6
It is true that Apple had a very basic "lockdown" system for apps, where they could easily "remove" an app remotely from an iDevice without the user knowing of the app was ever a security risk back in the iPhone OS 2.0 release. Now, Apple is going beyond their scope and now able to lockdown your ENTIRE device or a feature at a time (even your camera).
Well, to freak you out even more, your iOS 6 device is now dependent on Apple's servers 24/7 whenever you're connected to the internet. You remember when Apple said they were "moving to the cloud" right? Well they really meant it and it's coming at a cost of your freedom and privacy.
Recently everybody who had updated to iOS 6 could NOT connect to the Internet, because one of Apple's server was down. Why would WE rely on Apple's server to connect to the Internet? More importantly, why werent we able to connect to the Internet without a request from the server?
In my opinion, this is a new lockdown system that will absolutely be able to lockdown every aspect of your device, think of it as "Find my IPhone" running 24/7 behind Apple's "trusty" supervisors. For now, only Wi-Fi had been disabled but I'm sure it'll be possible to remotely wipe, listen and receive messages and calls without your consent when the time comes.

Why am I not suprised?
I've warned ppl about the new Passbook feature and why we should all keep our Phone providers & Bank accounts seperate from each other (when something bad happens to your bank account they'll automatically shut off your phone--keeping you out of touch with the world)
Passbook = another step towards the NewWorldOrder agenda with all money being digital and ALL transactions are monitored.
Fuck the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5S & everything else they're going to release after that... The iPhone 4S will be the last phone I buy directly from Apple.

That's exactly what came into my mind. I might switch to an Android phone since I actually have control on what's going on. I'll deactivate my Google Account and strictly stick to downloading everything from now on, I'm not paying a cent to anybody unless its a private transaction

Some interesting stuff...
I just saw the pilot for the Revolution too, show looks good and reminded me of apple a few years down the line lol...
But these phones are really getting too involved with every aspect of our lives, using simplicity and innovation as a excuse to take over the world...one phone at a time

i am curious to hear crapple's explanation as to why users need to go through THEIR servers just to get on the internet, especially when people are using the wifi in their own homes.
looks like we will shortly see ios 6.0.1 being released.
am also curious as to why the various dev-teams (jailbreakers) didn't discover this LITTLE bug.....

Don't expect any explanations. Just expect an update soon. It still beckons to ask the question why do phones have to connect to their server to connect to wifi. I'm not even surprised they were up to no good and got exposed.

because samsung / google / motorola use Android, which is open-source, so anybody could write a program, to bypass that crap, and you don't need to be rooted to install it (or in this case, jailbroken).
@Corsair1274
according to apple, it was to ping it to see if the person had an active internet connection / or connected to a paywalled network. the reports also said it was present in the beta versions as well, but i don't remember reading anything about that on any sites dealing with iDevices.

It's ironic really, if you think about it... the excitement began with Apple's 1984 commercial in reference to George Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty Four" Novel in regards to Big Brother and privacy, and look now where we are, full circle... Big Brother is watching you....

I've never used iCloud since it released, and had the "send in crash reports" turned off and disabled firmware updates.
After my iPad breaks fuck em they can keep there spying shit. I'll move on.

It is redicouse
You can't connect to network without Internet
A friend if mine rang me on Friday because he couldn't get his Ipad to mirror through atv. Long story short he was on 4.3.3 I told him to update
He then rang me not long after saying the wifi would connect. I had a quick google and saw other people were haveing the same problem. He was just in time so I linked him to 5.1.1 download and he shift restored to that and was immediately able to connect to the home network without an Internet connection
How are we supposed to connect to a network with no Internet connection (there are plenty of reasons you may need to)
