HOW TO: Complete Factory Unlock Without Losing Jailbreak or Restoring

Well...I didn't know anyone that had a Tmobile sim card so I purchased one online for cheap. Long story short, I tried all three methods listed in this thread and was unsuccessful.

I believe since you are factory unlocked you no longer need ultrasnow and should be able to uninstall it. Can you tell us what you did to get the "CONGRATULATIONS YOUR PHONE HAS BEEN UNLOCKED" message in itunes?

I have a verizon 4s will it work? I have contacted verizon and they have sent the request to apple. It was sent today. Is there a waiting period ? I have tried inserting a sim card and it just keeps saying searching...... nothing ever happens when I reboot with it connected to itunes. So I guess i need to us sam for the process ? Bc apple said to restore and it would work but I don't wont to update to iOS 6 or loose my jail break.

just connected my iphone 4 to my laptop and sync it with itunes.. after it was done i briefly saw the CONGRATULATIONS message.. i should have taken a screenshot of it...

Since your with at&t, If you can get access to a tmobile sim ( even a old one with no service on it, I used a tmobile prepaid sim that hasn't had service for a few years ) and try what I posted above. Use SBSettings to reboot it while connected to iTunes

You can use the same sim you dont have to put a new sim, just reboot while connected to iTunes

Anyone reading this? Anyway I found the password from another forum from where he got the attachment from and it was posted in April 2012, from a guy name RNC_EBM.

The people were asking the same damn thing. What the password? Someone hack it and gave to everyone and here it is: PASSWORD IS: 1275836697d9d39d5b1e3dc16f1b2cf28829f1197d

And I tried for the fun of it on iPhone 4 with Telus carrier. No show!

the links and deb files is not to a sam ver 0.1.7-3 ´in my cydia and the deb files is only ver sam 0.1.16-1

He did not say what version to get. He only put up old pictures to give you an idea what to do.

He said clearly to get that app from cydia and install it. Also if you pay attention to the attachment and look into it, it as the latest version.

I tried it and does not work for me at all. Maybe will for you and maybe not at all.

if you dont use ultrasn0w your signal bars will not show and you wont know if you have reception or not. but you can use it without it.

The reboot method did not work for me but the Sam Pref method worked first time with no problems.

I even deactivated the phone 3 more times t see if it was a fluke still worked.

I was using my old 3Gs on 5.0.1.

Let's keep this up top because I have a question:
- I just took possession of a Iphone 4 on 5.1.1. The phone is UNJAILBROKEN. I requested that the previous owner NOT update to iOS6.

- I also requested that he have AT&T send the carrier unlock authorization to Apple but NOT to connect the phone for fear of it installing IOS6 during the restore process.


My question, first, I am aware I will need to device extract the blobs via Redsnow in order to jailbreak as Apple no longer is signing 5.1.1. But when I finally connect to Itunes for the carrier unlock, how do I prevent it from asking me to restore the phone period.

Or should I cook a custom IPSW file, stitch the blobs, then when the phone asks to restore do a SHIFT + RESTORE and point the computer to the cooked 5.1.1 IPSW.

How many of you have been successful with this SAM method? How many of you have been successful with the reboot the phone once connected to Itunes method?
