A Question About SHSH Blobs & Downgrading

A quick question about downgrading.
I'm in the market for a used Iphone 4 or Iphone 4S.
Unfortunately most of the units I'm find on Craigslist, the owners have updated to IOS6.
Not only do I not like IOS6, I need a jailbreakable and unlockable OS so I can reload my apps & tweaks and use it on Tmobile, which means IOS5 or below.

- Can you use another individual's blobs? i.e. Can someone who saved their blobs on their computer via TinyUmbrella or another method, email them to you for use?

- Is it absolutely impossible to downgrade a phone without the blobs? Even if you cook up your own custom firmware in Redsnow?

- I have Blobs saved for my 3GS up through 5.1.1.. Can these be used?

Thanks.

1. Yes, people who have saved their blobs can email them to you or whatever. As long as they've definitely come from that phone.

2. Yes, it's impossible. No way around.

3. No they can't, each device has their own

shsh blobs are unique for each device on the planet and of course for each version of iOS so using some other device blobs won't help
Feel free to add me on GameCenter, nick: vpasic ipad

Never knew they were unique to each device. That eliminates 2 out of the 3 options I thought I might have had.

With that said, has anyone tried the jailbreak for IOS6? I never feel confident about a tethered jailbreak. Is it stable and reliable?

I read Cydia is not endorsing it yet.

Seems scary I'd rather keep my jailbreak until they say it's good

Ok guys, one more question. I was able to find an Iphone 4 loaded with 5.1.1 The phone is NOT jailbroken and NOT unlocked.

The seller is willing to have the phone carrier unlocked from AT&T before selling it to me.
However, I read that part of the carrier unlock process requires that the phone be backed up then restored.

If he restores the phone, will it restore to 5.1.1 or will Apple automatically force upgrade him to iOS6?
If Apple does upgrade him, can he extract the SHSH blobs via TinyUmbrella before executing the carrier unlock, save them as a file then send them to me so that should it upgrade the phone, I can force downgrade it back to 5.1.1?

Thanks!

Yes, you would need him to fetch the shsh blobs/tickets directly off the device NOW, while he is still on 5.1.1. I know Ifaith or redsnow (maybe TinyUmbrella too) will fetch the blobs directly off the device so he can save them locally (or send them to you) or add them to Cydia so later you can always have the ability to restore to 5.1.1 by stitching those blobs to the stock 5.1.1 fw. I always did this on an already JB'n device though. Because its an iP4 with the limerain exploit this is possible (would not be possible on 4S & up devices). Without those 5.1.1 shsh blobs you won't be able to restore to 5.1.1.

Do not have him restore as it WILL upgrade him to 6.0. You can still have the unlock process completed without restoring like they suggest. You can use redsnow or Sam to deactivate and don't need to restore.

What if I instruct him on how to save the SHSH blobs, have him do the carrier unlock, then send me the blobs and I downgrade the phone back to 5.1.1

This is achievable, correct?

00----------------------------------------------------00

Nevermind I found the answers to my own question. The only way to extract blobs of the phone is with Redsn0w (NOT TINY UMBRELLA) and even then the hardware extract method will only work for Iphone 4 or earlier devices.

Excellent, clear directions here.

Why Apple bars you from installing older software, if you so choose, it ridiculous and shameful they make you void you warranty and jump through rings to do so even when they know the current version has flaws.
