Should I upgrade my 4 to iOS6?
Is it worth the upgrade? Does it slow the phone down or kill battery life?

It's obviously up to you but the smart answer is...no, don't upgrade. For what?

With an iphone 4, its not a problem to go back to 5.1.1, as long as you have your blobs saved. If you want to try it out go ahead. My guess is you will end up going back to 5.1.1 for a jailbreak when its all said and done.
Otherwise, if you didnt save blobs then NO WAY!

Some users reported severe battery drain but I didn't notice. In fact, I've noticed it lasts longer when the screen is off.

IOS6 is OK, but I went back to 5.1.1 on my IP4. I was not impressed at all.

Quite a few of 200+ features in ios6 don't apply to the 3GS or 4. Example, no turn by turn directions or flyover in maps. Because I have a ip4, there just isn't enough new features for me to wanna update. Not to mention there's no jailbreak.

If I helped hit the button.

I've jast upgraded over weekend, abd so far i'm enjoying all those new little features what ios 6 has to offer on ip 4, it was a bit of hustle for me to get cudia in, just couple of tweeks that i had on ios 5 doesn't work, apart from that it works fine, and i can go back any time.
I would suggest to try it out, but ONLY if u have saved blobs, also if u will decide to try it i suggesting to take extra care when u installing tweeks from cydia, rather don't do it if u r away from ur laptop, cause it is tetherd.

Is ios 6 sluggish on the iphone 4? I've still got those horrid memories of the iphone 3g on ios 4.

I updated last night and so far battery life seems about the same for me and my phone seems to run faster. I can say for a fact that my ip4 turns off wayyyyy faster and seems to boot a wee bit faster.

I updated my ip4 to 6 for a couple weeks then went back to 5.1.1.
The phone seemed a little faster but i like google maps better and there is no untethered jailbreak.
Feels good to be back on the old software

The only problem i have on iOS 6 is mms not working on at&t. The mms apn setting is changed on iOS 6 and the only way to change it is to edit the apn in cellular data network. But if you are lock to at&t, there is no way to edit the apn. In my case, i have a unlocked iphone 4 so i was able to do the card swipe using my tmobile sim and that worked great. I jailbroke and installed semi-tethered from bigboss and that works great without a problem. ios 6 really isnt worth the upgrade but i like and have not had any major problems yet. I went from upgarding to ios 6 and downgrading back to 5.1.1 a few times trying to see the good and the bad and if it was worth upgrading and lossing a un-tethered jailbreak to upgrading and having a tethered jailbreak. I havent had any major problems ios 6. And if you dont care about jailbreaking i would say upgrade. If you plan on jailbreaking i would say no, cause you have to accept all the problems that might occur with having a tethered jailbreak and some things are simple to figure out and some not. Like now, im on sinfuliphone using my phone semi-tethered and sometimes you might have to reboot your phone and boot tethered again. it might take a few times for it to catch. I mean for it to go thru the boot tethered process. Sometimes it might take me 6 tries for it to finally boot tethered. And when it does go to the home screen, i have make sure appsync is working. Sometimes it may stop working causing me to reboot and boot tethered over again.

My wife has a Ip4 still on 4.3.3 and I have the shsh blobs saved. I just want to update to 5.1.1, it's been a while since I've done a upgrade. Do you still use tiny umbrella and update through iTunes or a different method?
Thanks

You can only upgrade from 4.3.3 to 5.1.1 IF you have the SHSH blobs for it. If not, the only upgrade option is ios6, which apple is still signing.

hi not sure i understand what you mean. so here goes
its a tethered jaibreak so need a pc to get it back up and running if it runs out of battery.
I never (very rarely) run out of battery so not an issue for me.
Getting jailbreak features like cydia is now easy on iphone 4 but you must be careful what tweaks you install as many havent been updated for ios6
have you saved blobs ie have you used tiny umbrella etc to save them if so you can always go back down otherwise you cant.
features I like mainly are available on cydia on ios 5
do not disturb (very handy for me for meetings etc)
privacy is good
i do find it more responsive but i also find battery worse.
all in all your call anything else just be more specific in your questions

I have decided to KEEP 5.1.1. The settings and all in 6 are very different. Old dog, don't want to learn new tricks yet. Not impressed with ios6.
