Restore 5.1.1 for Unlock (I am on 5.1.1)

Ok, here is the situation: My iPhone is on 5.1.1. Lately, I got factory unlock on it. As a result, I have to restore the device once, so the factory unlock can go through.

My device was not jailbroken, so I did a full restore on the device, but it didn't work. I have been told if I jailbreak it, there is a way. So I had the device jailbroken and there is no SHSH on cydia's server I guess.

Now here is my question: is there anyway that I can restore to the same 5.1.1 that my device is on it? If yes, does the unlock go through by doing so?

If youre still on 5.1.1 and you have an iphone 4, you can still get your shsh blobs RIGHT NOW, directly off the device so DO NOT RESTORE yet.

First things first, save those shsh blobs. You can fetch your blobs with Redsnow/iFaith etc. Once you send those blobs to Cydia and save them locally to your pc, then you will ALWAYS be able to restore to 5.1.1 and JB. Just stitch your shsh blobs with redsnow to your stock 5.1.1 fw, put in PWNED DFU mode via Redsnow, then shift+restore in iTunes to the stitched 5.1.1 , kick out of recovery via Redsnow if need be. Done.

As far as the unlock goes, you can try to reboot your phone while connected to itunes, use redsnow to deactivate then connect to iTunes or use SAM once your JB'n. Thanks. My phone is iPhone 4S, not 4.
Since Apple doesn't sign iOS 5.1.1, can I still save my SHSH? My device was not Jailbroken back then. It is Jailbroken now... so when I run Cydia, it shows just a TTS request, no SHSH available for my device...

Oh sorry, different story then.

Unfortunately, no you can't restore back to 5.1.1 so be very careful so you don't need to restore or else bye bye JB because you will have to upgrade to 6.0 (which sucks IMO).

To unlock, redsnow won't work then. Install SAM or I would simply try the reboot while connected to iTunes that is described in the thread I linked.

No, its not too late if you use Redsnow. I mention it in post #2. Use Redsnow to fetch/send to Cydia and save locally.

I got a I phone 4 on 5.1.1 and ive tryed using few diff redsnow versions do you know extactly what version i need to use ?

so with a 4S on 5.1.1 without SHSH saved... really no way now to re-restore back to same 5.1.1 if ever needed?

If you have no 5.1.1 shsh blobs saved for your 4s you CANNOT re-restore.

I would think all the recent Redsnows but I just picked a random version on my desktop 0.9.14b2, open it & select..... extras>shsh blobs>fetch

Is this ^ what you tried when you got the error with shsh blobs message?

If I am not mistaken you need to be in dfu mode for redsnow to fetch your blobs.

u don;t have to do a restore...the unlock will go through... hook up to the itunes and u done...how i know?...i did 3 iphone 4s on 5.1.1 without restore etc
