iphone 4 factory unlocked on T-Mobile iMessage issue

ok so i currently got an iphone 4 off a friend.
it was on 4.3.3
i jailbroke it but really wanted to be on iOS 5 but since Apple no longer
allows you to upgrade to anything other then 6, i just decided to upgrade up to 6
and wait for a jailbreak.
my issue, however, is that i noticed my iMessage said "waiting for activation"
yet my iMessage works, only that it uses my email address.
is there anyway to get this to work as my number?

Is it factory unlocked?
If so just make sure you can send international texts on your plan (as it requires one to activate) then deactivate international texts.
After that toggle imessage and that will do it
If I have helped please press the little thanks button in the right hand corner

Same issue. Imessage worked on my jailbroken / rocky racoon'd 3GS on Tmo.

Upgraded to a factory unlocked / jailbroken 4 on Tmo, and I cannot get Imessage to work even though it says both it and Facetime are activated.

Currently running IOS 5.1.1.

Imessage neither works on Wifi or Cellular Network. Called Tmobile to verify MMS, MMSC, and APN settings and all are correct. I can receive and send SMS & MMS, but cannot send iMessage. Not sure about Facetime either.
