As far as unlockit goes I do not support it and do not know which profile you need to use. Once you're unlocked you can make the carrier data network screen come up and you won't need to have any profile installed. You just edit the apns mmsc and the proxy yourself.

So what happens if this doesn't work?
I have no "bastard" sim card to use (i.e. T-Mobile).

If you're on 5.0.1 you can do it the backup way or jailbreak way using ifunbox.

I'm on 6 w/an unlocked 4S.
iBackupBot won't save my changes.

So...assuming I can find a T-Mobile sim, is the sim supposed to be activated?

ok. Got the t-mobile sim, put it in, went to general, took it out, put my ST sim in, was able to enter the apn settings, shut down, restarted, shut down, restarted, tried to send a pic & still got the exclamation point.
Ideas?

That's because swapping out the sim causes a fresh activation. Re input the settings.

In order to do that I must put the t-mobile sim back in because the network settings are gone

I did this & still no go.
I'm about ready to sell this & get one I can jailbreak. Sooo much easier!

Hey anybody got a solution for this issue.

I have been setting up peoples iphone 4's lately using these methods but it is so time consuming. I have to pay a guy to unlock wait 1 day then get the iphone authorize it to my computer (which requires the users apple id and psswd) then transfer purchases then backup and I always have to do a complete restore. Then restore once more from backup to get the unlock through. Then I do the tmob sim swap method. Other than having the person who owns the phone do there own unlock I am at a loss for a quicker way to do this. Any thoughts?

Don't understand why you are having so many problems doing this.... here use the instructions from Howard Forums site to do it. It is the same as the OP in this thread just explained a little different . Can't post links for 7 more days so put the "http" in front of the 2 forward slashes: //wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Straight_Talk_iPhone#Data_for_non-Jailbroken_devices

Hope this helps!
