Icon2 [How to] Unbrick Your iDevice Stuck at Apple Logo Without Restoring (iOS 5.1.1)

Regardless of how careful I've tried being when dealing with all those awesome Siri Ports for non iPhone 4S iDevices, I've always managed to bump into a situation where the above screen (shiny Crapple Logo) is stuck, and my only option is to restore with uTunes and start from scratch again; at least that's what I've been reading in answers to similar situations

After doing some reasearch and experimenting with a friend's iPod Touch 4G, I managed to find a solution to unbrick my iDevice besides restoring, so here goes:

1.) First off, to ensure you are in a similar situation to what I was in (as that's what this guide is for), carry out the following sub-steps:
i) Download and install i-FunBox on your PC (Personal Computer)
ii) Open i-FunBox then connect your bricked iDevice to your computer via a USB cable
iii) Wait until iDevice is powered up to the Apple Logo as shown above, then wait an additional 5-10 minutes
iv) Did i-FunBox detect AND display a branch menu of your iDevice (stating it's running iOS 5.1.1) below it's "Connected Devices" branch? If it did, then you're in the same situation as I was and can safely proceed to step 2.). Otherwise, STOP here and find an alternative solution, as I'm not aware of any issues that may follow in the future if you so choose to proceed
2.) Keeping i-FunBox open and your bricked iDevice connected, download the following package and extract it to a familiar directory on your computer (like your Desktop):

ZIP File Password: MrElectrifyer4u
3.) Copy the "com.apple.SpringBoard.plist" file in the "SpringBoard Launch Daemon (iOS 5.1.1)" folder over to the following directory, using i-FunBox:
-----------------------------------------------
//System/Library/LaunchDaemons
-----------------------------------------------
4.) Copy the contents of the "XXAP.plist Files (iOS 5.1.1)" folder over to the following directory, using i-FunBox:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
//System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
-----------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: These XXAP.plist files were obtained from a 3GS (myne) running iOS 5.1.1 and used to unbrick an iPod Touch 4G (friend's) running iOS 5.1.1, regardless of which Siri port we had installed; no issues experienced so far.

5.) Reboot your iDevice by simultaneously holding down the "Power/Sleep" button and the "Home" button until the iDevice's screen shuts off, turns back on, and the Apple Logo reappears.

6.) Wait for 5-10 minutes and your iDevice should be fully functional again, or in other words, Unbricked

NOTE:
* If you were previously updating a Siri port before your bumped into this issue, you might have to go into Cydia and Reinstall it in order for it to be fully functional again.
* On the contrary, if you were previously uninstalling a Siri port, you might have to go into Cydia and confirm it was fully uninstalled.

DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK

Hmmm... I just restored mine after experimenting and to update siri. I didn't want to waste time on updating and then if it failed I would restore. Thanks anyway

Been using iDevices since the original iPhone, been jailbreaking them since the beginning, but since there's so much time in between jailreaks/new devices/tweaks to fool around with, I decided to take things to the next level... Instead of fooling around, I'm taking it apart and putting it back together ten times better...

iTools is what you need! iTunes is what you need to UNINSTALL!!! iTools does what iTunes does and a hell of a lot more... Don't just copy music TO your iDevice, copy your iDevice music to your computer. Also has some great features for jailbroken users!

When you click the iTools link above, look on the top right of the page for the "ENGLISH" button!

if you have mobile substrate installed you can just reboot by holding home and power button then when the device power cycles just hold the volume up rocker. it will disable mobile substrate and all tweaks that run with it. then you can just open cydia and get rid of the troublesome tweak. provided it is tweak related and not "bricked" as a result of someone messing with .plist files and wrecking some shit
if I helped you find something or I posted something that was/is useful hit the button.

kanjo, Thanks for the tip! Regardless of whether ultimately I can unbrick my phone or not using your method....it at least gives me a chance to open Cydia to try to fix it. Thanks!

As the OP states, this is for the situation where the iDevice is stuck at the boot logo; not in a reboot loop Try following the instructions stated in kanjo's post and uninstall recently installed packages (if it boots up). Otherwise, start a new thread and give better detail of what you were doing prior to the reboot loop.

Although this solution doesn't help me at the moment I applaud you for your independent work with this. and by at the moment I mean my device is not bricked, if it does become so, I will be sure to try this!

Hi, thanks a bunch for this. Good karma heading your way.

To anyone giving this a try, I recommend patience and a few retrys.

-Make sure iPhone is plugged into your PC when you restart it.
-If it doesn't appear in iFunbox within 5 minutes, restart. Repeat.
-If after a few goes this doesn't work, then try waiting longer periods each session.

Reason I say this is my iPhone failed to dock on first two tries, waiting 10 mins each time.
Worked on the third try after 2 mins.

Hmm, go into safe mode and see if it appears there; if it does, try rebooting your iPhone and see if that does anything.

If you haven't already restored, try re installing mobile substrate from Cydia; you will have to change the user type to Hacker/Developer by going to Manage > Settings > Hacker/Developer > Done

If that still didn't work, install iCleaner, use it to clear you cache files then respring and see if that does it.

If that still didn't work, connect your iPhone to your PC, open iFunBox, click on "System Applications" (you should see the "Settings" app in thumbnail view), right click on the "Settings" app, select "Permissions" and ensure that the octal permissions code is 0775. If it's not, change it to that, reboot your iPhone AND respring. Let me know if that works.
