How can i use Hulu and others outside USA?

Hi guys , new to site great job by all fantastic !
Have my ATV 2 for a few months now since getting back from Afghanistan , Australian special forces soldier proud to keep you all safe !

My question is as follows , has anyone worked out a patch it tricking the ATV2 in thinking its not in the USA so we in oz can watch Hulu + ?? Who wants to pay ?

Also looking for repos , I have around 20 repos but looking for unusual ones that are hard to find . Is anyone out side of the USA having trouble watching news channels from America ?? Any thoughts would be great .

Side bar , channel 1 if anyone is having plugin error , right click on it and take the tick out of meta bans and it will work a treat . Thanks for listening guys keep up the great work !!

To make it think that you are In the US is kind of a tricky processes that requires the use of a second router. This second router needs to have DD-WRT firmware and OpenVPN on it. Once that is done, connect the DD-WRT router through the VPN. Then connect the AppleTV to the router. You can google all of this and find out more information.

Wouldn't a proxy work for this as well? I may be wrong but assuming if you found a US Proxy you could just pop that in. Not sure if i'm correct tho but worth a shot?

Well yeah I guess if you were on a computer. The AppleTV has a web browser but there aren't any video plugins for it. Heres the section on OpenVPN at the DD-WRT website:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/OpenVPN

I know it looks overwhelming. But hey, you will never know if you can do it if you don't try. I would do some more research on google about OpenVPN, DD-WRT, and your specific router. I installed DD-WRT on my old router some years ago. It wasn't hard. After, OpenVPN is all about plugging in the values. Hell, you might even find a place that lists all the values for you very easily.

I use AirVPN as my VPN service.

OR create a adhoc connection on your laptop to your ATV2 and run a VPN.

No need to have a router with ddwrt.

This will help you alot.

That's a good method. I guess consider mine a more perminant solution. Set it up and forget about it. The adhoc method above would be easier. You would have to connect and disconnect your VPN when you wanted to watch something. If you wanted to do something else on your laptop while watching, your computer would remain connected through the VPN.

Consider flashing your extra router with DD-WRT. It's very usefull, not just for OpenVPN. You can turn any supported router into a bridge or repeater. I use my DD-WRT linksys as a repeater for direct connection to my XBox that's across the house from modem and main router.

So you have the second router, whichis DD-WRT'd and you connect it to the first router?
The leave the first router for all your normal connections and your 2nd router for your vpn?
