iPhone 4G to get 5MP camera – 5G to get 8MP?

The iPhone 4.0 OS announcement revealed loads of details about functionality that will enabled in the iPhone 4G, but the latest rumours suggest it’ll also have a 5-megapixel camera.

This revelation comes from discussions between Rodman Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar, following discussions with some of Apple’s component partners. He not only claims that the next iPhone, which is rumoured for release this summer, will feature a 5-megapixel camera, but also that 2011’s model will feature a Sony 8-megapixel sensor. The 5G rumours are starting even before the iPhone 4G has been released.

While the 5-megapixel detail isn’t anywhere near confirmed, we would be surprised at this point if Apple didn’t improve the camera with the iPhone 4G. The iPhone 3GS improved the 3G’s camera with a macro mode and some overall tweaks, but surely it’s time to move off the 3.2-megapixel starting blocks, Apple?

Even if the 8-megapixel rumours turn out to be true as well, Apple will still be way behind rivals – we’re only months off seeing the first 12-megapixel phones released. Still, with all the neat new features Apple introduced with iPhone OS 4.0, we’re going to stay quiet and be thankful for small mercies.

Its rumored that the iphone HD with the 5mp camera is to drop on the market june 22,2010. Its a tuesday of course. (still not 100% confirmed)

I cant believe peoples are talking about a iphone that hasnt even been close to being created yet.
Still, SONY makes some good cameras for mobile devices(I own one and it works great)
Hopefully, this isnt going to be one of those rumours that doesnt come true.
I would like to see an iphone with a DECENT camera and flash come out in the next couple years.

yeah.. my 3gs camera is dead and useless for nightshots.. but i doubt there will be any flash.. stevo will come up with 'oh it will cause battery drain etc...' geeeshh upgrade the battery capacity then.. i certainly wldnt mind a slight weight increase.

Lets be honest here though guys, it was originally rumoured that the 3GS would also have a 5MP camera with flash neither of those ever came about. I cant see them not putting a 5MP camera in this time around but 8MP might be pushing them just a bit. Sure arent they only getting around to multi tasking now???

And a 1080p 3d video camera with 3d projector and holograph screen. Also the new iphone is gunna be the best thing in the world oh my god I'm selling my house now...cuz there's GUNNA be a house app. And a car app so my car has to go too.

How can anyone possibly be worrying about the 5G already?! I am sick of hearing about the damn 4g so this is nuts.
