We are screwed on this part arnt we? No SHSH blob, downgrade
Hey guys, i have a friend that has a 4s he wants to downgrade to 5.0.1 from 5.1.1 but we don have the blobs for 5.0.1 since he bought it with 5.1.1 on it..
So are we just stuck with 5.1.1?

Afraid your stuck.
Why do you wanna downgrade?
5.1.1 has better battery life and an untethered JB.

Hacktivation, do not have the original sim card, so cant activate the phone, and since he bought it used, he has no idea what carrier it needs anyway.
But if there is a hacktivation (perminent!) or possibilty to unlock so it can be activated with any sim card, then that would help alot.

What makes you think that downgrading the 4s will hacktivate? There is no boot rom exploit for 4s

You could use 'Iphone Carrier Checker' or other similar utilities, and find out who the carrier is..

Depends on what carrier he is with but does this help?
Permanent Factory Unlock service for Sinful members - SiNfuL iPhone
Plenty of places to check the carrier on here and the net

I came across it while looking for 5.1.1 ways, should be possible with 5.0.1.
I wish it was possible to jailbreak a non activated iphone

may be his carrier blocked it.
Usually carriers block IMEI of stolen iphones. You might want to check if your iphone is blocked.
