Apple iPad mini Price will be Cheap ? We have already heard different rumors about the release of the iPad mini. Some says that it will be a 7.85” device with low end processor and cheap price. While the other depicts that it will be powerful device which will have Retina Display just like the new iPad, iPhone 4 and 4S. However, if we throw some light on how these rumors were actually originated? Then we will come to know that 1st of all a famous Weblog WSJ reported for the release of iPad, 2nd the folks over Bloomberg also claimed that Apple will release an iPad mini with 7.85” screen.

I think the Ipad is great as a tablet device, I think the Iphone is great as a phone, I don't see the need for anything inbetween!

I think It will happen because they need a "new device" . If apple comes out with a 4th gen iPad it can't be the same as the 2&3 with a better processor it will soon get played out. With a mini or nano pad it will be something FRESH and the market to smaller kids will open uP and apple will have something the size of a nook . Good business plan to me

Exactly. With the Kindle Fire and the Nexus 7 retailing for $199 while the iPad starts at $499, I think Apple will have an entry in this price range. The iPad while great is not feasible for the masses. Being Apple the specs will be just a touch over the competition. Nothing amazing just something to make you consider it as the better option.

The iPad is and always has been feasible for the masses. When it comes to buying Apple products, the masses don't even look at the price. They see the Apple logo and buy it. Apple has (and still continues) to be the majority for tablet market share. Earlier this year, Apple had 60% tablet market share...don't think they're too worried about feeling the need to compete with other tablets

Why have 60% of a market when you can have 80 or 90%? Business wise they should have an entry in that price range.

Even if they did release this pointless iPad mini, there's no way they would get 80 or 90%. The market share forecasts (going by the assumption that the iPad mini is gonna get released) that it would only bump Apple up to 63.5% market share. Business wise, it would be a waste of time to even release it...since the majority of Apple users don't care about prices...which has been proven year after year.

You get my meaning with the 80-90%. Why settle for less if you can have more. Some Apple users don't care about price but not all. What about the college kid who will go out and grab a Nexus or a Kindle? What about the grandma that will see the 3 side by side in BestBuy and get the less expensive model that does the same thing as the shiny goodness that cost a kidney? There are tons of non mac users who will get a tablet but wont get an iPad because of the price.

Business wise making money from new users is never a waste of time, otherwise crack/coke wouldn't be such a lucrative trade. I'd be willing to bet if they had a reasonably priced iPad mini on display in Bestbuy next to a Kindle and Nexus then >70% of the time mom, dad, grandma and the cat will be leaving with a new iPad mini.

Of course they do, as long as Apple doesn't do anything stupid to existing customers. There will still be a huge gain of customership, especially with the new iPad mini
