Icon9 iPhone 4s 5.0.1 unjailbreak

Before you say anything about to search or this topic has already been discussed, please read on.

I tried unjailbreaking my 4s couples days ago and I failed. Kept Gettin errors 21 and 1600. I did what the Internet told me with the shift restore thing and didn't work. I was thinking that method wasnt up to date and there was another way. ITunes kept saying to restore but nothing was working. Still in recovery/dfu mode. Finally downloaded ireb to get out of recovery loop and it worked!

I still want to unjailbreak but I'm still scared to

Ps: I was thinking it was because I edited one of those host file things(the one with notepad and all). But I'm not sure what I added or where it's located.

HELP

EDIT: jailbroke with absinthe

tried jailbreaking with redsn0w i believe? but it was for the iphone 4 and not 4s -.- title said 4s! thats when i think i had edited host files. could that be a reason why its not restoring properly?

just click on restore, you do not need shift and restore unless you are using a custom Fw. just restore will put your phone back to factory settings, and then set up as a new iphone and not from a backup.

I guarantee you it's that hosts file you edited that's giving you problems. Fix that and your restore problems will be gone.

Search for it, because if you did you would of figured out the answer.
What iTunes Error 21 Mean & How to Fix it During Firmware Restore? | Jaxov

Your host file is tainted with the 76.xxx..xx gs.apple object, from iOS 5.x+ the host file would give you an error if you had the file updated with any apple redirects; when you tried to restore.

My phone has some hardware issue, will this remove the jailbreak completely ? My true question is will apple accept to repair my phone or not?

Redsn0w will do it for 4S but only if you have your SHSH blobs saved from 5.0.1 and idr how for others gens but you still need SHSH blobs.

For OP, have you run Tiny Umbrella? If so, open it, click the advanced tab, uncheck set hosts to Cydia on exit, click X in top right to close it, then try restore in iTunes.

If you haven't used tiny umbrella, be sure that your hosts file doesn't have anything like this in it:
Code:
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
or
127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
P.S. Hosts file is in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

They may not do under warranty if jailbroken, doing a plain restore (just a simply left click restore) will revert the iOS to factory conditions, possibly fixing your error but if not removing Apple's ability to know that it was jailbroken.

When you're having issues such as this, restore your phone. The only way apple will know of the JB is at the repair center / depot:

The first thing they do at the repair depot is restore the phone, to make sure it's a hardware issue. If they get any alerts from the restore, they do some further software research on the device.

RESTORE YOUR PHONE, SETUP AS NEW, Setup Your Repair / Replacement.

Of course, this applies to going to the AppleStore as well...
