“Crack” free AppStore Apps?

Hello Community!

OK, following situation:
I have my iPhone4S and absolutely do not want to connect it to iTunes. I get by pretty well with all the apps from forums like this and iFunBox. However, there is a free App in the AppsStore that I must have. It lets you call people via VOIP (and I don’t mean App to App, I mean really calling somebody else’s telephone or mobile phone) and would be a lot cheaper than my current carrier.

So I thought:
OK, I set up a virtual machine, install iTunes in it, create a fake (or free, if you will) AppStore account. Then I download the App and get the .ipa file. So far so good. I copy the .ipa outside of the virtual machine, connect my iPhone and install the .ipa file via iFunBox. Everything goes smoothly this far, iFunBox installs the App just fine, the App icon appears on my springboard.
So I launch up the App, a short flash, and it’s gone. It crashed, of course, and now resides in the background. I try to open it again, without any luck.

So I figure:
OK, the developers screwed something up with the App. In order to verify this, I download three other free Apps from the AppStore, install them in the same way and sadly always get the same result.
I already tried to install the apps while in Safe Mode, launch them in Safe Mode, tried editing the .ipa files, installed them via installous. I’m currently running iOS 5.0.1 and if I recall correctly I tried the whole procedure also on iOS 5.1, all in vain.

So I am really at the end of my wits and turn to the community for help: What am I doing wrong? I really need that free AppStore App. As cracked App run just fine, I was wondering if I can “crack” free AppStore Apps in order to be able to install (or rather launch) them. I hope anybody can help me?

Very complicate describtion for cracking an app .

I dont get it ?

Why you dont just download the app install it on your idevice and use an app cracker script like crackulou s via cydia to get this app cracked?Doesnt matter if it is a free an paid app , both are crackable.

Vitual machine ?
For what is this good for ?
I mean as long as you don't want to emulate another os makes this in relation to what you are tryen to achive very odd to me.Ok does itunes not run on Xp ? That would be the only thing that i would understand using a Vm .

But let’s keep it english so that others might be able to help.
Are my descriptions really that complicated? Well, let’s try to answer all you question:
OK, the whole reason for this “complicate-ness” is that I don’t like iTunes and I do not want my computer nor my idevice to get in touch with it (and thus with Apple), I want to stay as anonymous as I can. That’s the whole point about the virtual machine: I have a completely isolated computer where I install stuff I want to try out but do not want to run on my actual system. It’s not an OS compatibility problem or anything, I mean iTunes runs just fine on WindowsXP.

So back to my question: Do I really need to crack free AppStore Apps to make them run on my (jailbroken) iPhone? I thought free Apps should run just fine as they are?
If so, could you please point me into the direction of how to exactly crack apps. Like the script you were talking about? And is iTools in any way preferable to iFunBox?
The Apps name is “sipgate”, by the way.

No you dont need to crack them
There is obviously something wrong with the apps you are downloading or something wrong with your device
You said you have tried them in safemode so my guess is the 3 apps you have tried are all broken
Download another free app like "angry birds" we all know that works

I really think you need to crack them .

If i download an free app via my itunes it is related to my account details.

If i try to sync this app onto another iphone , either itunes rejects that or itools installs the app but it wont work. Tested already on my own.

Here i got the app you need but i couldn't crack it via ********** ? <-- ok this censoreship is hillarious - C r a c k o l o u s < --- gotcha! -very odd .

Can someone else give it a try please so that " Mr Anonymous " gets his app after several days (wich is hillarious if you consider the fact that it is an free app)

And it is possible that it wouldnt work since i got only a 3gs and you a 4s there are diffrent cpu instruction features that differ in the way of cracking an app and some apps are only working on the same device it was cracked on .

There's no logical reason why you would not want to use the app store on your phone other than the phone is nicked and your scared apple would trace you or something.

Go on, explain to all the boys and girls the WORST case scenario if heaven forbid your device contained apple and you we're no longer anonymous???

Yeah, I thought so, too. But the four Apps I tried were totally different and obviously not all of them could have the same programming screw-up. Which make you think that something is wrong with my iPhone. But I first tried these apps on iOS 5.0.1, then I installed 5.1 and after that completely restored the iPhone back to 5.0.1, and as described nothing made a difference.
This is what led me to believe that I maybe need to crack free AppStore Apps in order to use them. And as l8ter confirms this actually seems to be the case.
I will try your suggestion an install Angry Birds and report back with the results. Would you be so kind to try installing SipGate on your iPhone to see if it works for you without cracking? (thanks l8ter for uploading it!)

I’m not sure I completely understand. You tried to crack SipGate via Crackolous and failed at it? If so, could I try to install Crackolous on my iPhone and give it a try? Or do I need to meet certain requirements which I do not yet fulfil in order to crack Apps?
Is there a guide on how to use Crackolous? I searched the forum and couldn’t find one.

There is no guide needed ,you install the H a c k o l o u s source in cydia and there you can download the c*r*a*c*k*u*l*o*u*s* app.

After starting it it shows you only Apps that are not cracked with DRM.

Sipgate was in the list but i had no success cracking it .

And no there are no special requirements needed except and unjailed idevice that has a internet connection to download things via cydia is nothing else needed.

Go go go it is hillarious easy .

And you asked about itools . Dont do that to me i would be hours typing to explain you the advances of itools towards itunes.

Except doing a restore of your idevice , itools does everything itunes can do for you but itools does it better and faster.

Yes fuck ifunbox .iTools.

Your wanting to do something thats incredibly easy and has an obvious solution yet you refuse and want to faff about casuing yourself difficulties for no logical reason.

If you told me your problem why you cant use the appstore maybe i would understand your issue.

Think he wants to avoid using itunes , i mean do you use it ? I dunno why he acts this way and frankly said it is irrelevant to me after all , he will sooner or later learn how this jailbreak thing works , and its advances .

I don't need itunes neither ,except for some free apps that are not here posted or somewhere else on apptracker for example.

And to avoid using itunes i suggested to use rather Itools since it is free and the definately better solution to backup and manage an idevice.

Maybe he has seen the southpark episode the human centipad .Where Stan did not read the agreements and allowed Apple to do expriments on him.

Its a very funny episode.

Well all i can gather is he wants a free app from the app store. So yes, you can avoid itunes and download it via app store on the phone. Once its on the phone you can transfer it to the pc for alteration etc.

I dont bother with itunes either

South park is amazing, i have series 1-14 and dvd and slowly making my way through, im watching series 5 at the mo so looking forward to that episode. ironically 2 months ago i saw human centipede so should be funny

OK, this is obviously getting off topic

Sorry for reporting back so late, I have a lot going on right now.

So, as bianchin69 suggested I tried “AngryBirdsFree” and yet another free App, with the same result as already described. Hmm.
Then I decided last night to try crack those free Apps myself. I tried with Crack.ulous, SinfulCrack and lastly with PoedCrack + MobileTerminal. All for naught, none of them could crack even Angry Birds.

Then it began to slowly dawn on me: The problem for me starts way back, it starts with the fact that I’m not logged in into iTunes or rather do not have an AppStore Account on my iPhone.
This came to me while messing around with iTools as l8ter suggested: Angry Birds was the only App has the little red “c” square for “copyrighted”. So while it is a free App, iOS still checks if the copyright information and/or signature (can they be considered the same?) match your AppStore ID, and if not so, execution is denied.
So in order to crack these Apps for myself I have to log myself into iTunes, which then would make cracking the Apps senseless, as I already could use them. At least this is my theory.

If I understand it correctly, cracking is the actual method of removing this copyright/signature, so that iOS will launch the App without precondition.
So my questions continue: Is there a way to crack Apps without being logged into iTunes? Is it maybe possible to crack Apps solely on the PC?

If you're so desperate to avoid using iTunes, why not just create an Apple account with fake details using your iDevice and download the app for free from the appstore? No need for any credit card nor address details to download free apps, so the only logical reason to not want to create an apple account is to avoid being tracked down; kinda like what happened here. You thinking what am thinking

Of course they are not going to work if they are not cracked

I'm surprised they installed on your device

Put it this way if you didn't buy it. It must be cracked and you must have appsync installed or it won't work

From the comments above, it doesn't appear like he's tried anything like what I described, he has so far been downloading the ipa through a separate device (his VM) instead of the one it's going to be running on. What I'm suggesting is he creates the iTunes account (or log into the already created one) on the iDevice and download it straight from the AppStore. There shouldn't be any reason he can't do that, besides avoiding getting tracked down.

Then i need to ask you what this line means , i quote :

To me it sounds this way he has attempted this already or he had this in mind to go for.

I mean it is not worth it after all to argue about this, i think he needs the app that i downloaded for him only to crack and then he got wha he wants.

The app closing and crashing has nothing todo with any protection. This is done by app not supporting the firmware or a modified .IPA that was not signed properly for device to install onto or hacked.

To load a app in a manner the OP is stating is not very complicated, but must look at the security involved.

The main security when using iphone or itunes to purchase apps is a username and password then app is signed for that device only, after you have donwloaded the app with the above security. You need to install it on a device with the same login and password for itunes account which downlaoded it, or either crack the app.

The problem lies in which you are not succesffuly cracking it and to crack a app it must be already installed and working on a device. This is why all your downloads are not cracking or installing as they are not working in 1st place as have not bypassed the very basic security check in place.

I bet if you login teh virtual machine with the username and password you will be able to install teh app to iphone. Or use the login/password on your normal computer and connect via itues it will work.
