Iphone 4 + Straightalk + 5.0.1 + BB 4.10.01 Unlocking

For anyone who has this particular situation, you know it can be frustrating to jailbreak then unlock. Here is a quick overview on what you need to do.

1. Order all parts needed: Gevey ultra (from legit source), and sim cutter (if you have sim from E71)

2. WITHOUT GEVEY OR ST SIM IN THE PHONE download FuriousMod and tetherme from cydia.

3. In settings>Tetherme: Switch automatic to OFF then >Use data apn to ON then go to> Cellular Data Network:

Cellular Data
APN: att.mvno
Username: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)

MMS
APN: att.mvno
Username: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com:80
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL: (leave blank)

Internet Tethering
LEAVE ALL BLANK

Exit all> Turn off phone> Insert Gevey and st sim, making sure it fits properly and snug> turn on phone> Dont touch anything until you get a signal (handy if you have 1 new voicemail, it will show as soon as you get a signal)> You may need to go to Settings> General> Network and turn on 3G, Cellular Data, and Data roaming.

You should now be good to go, you may receive a weird text from a foreign number, I just ignore it. If you loose signal or seem to be having problems restart the phone. Always make sure when you restart to not do anything until you get a signal.

IF YOU PERFORM THESE DIRECTIONS OUT OF ORDER YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEM WITH MMS AND EDITING TETHERME, FOLLOW THESE IN ORDER AND EVERYTHING SHOULD FUNCTION AS IT SHOULD

P.S. Sorry to those of you who like visual voicemail, I have googled my keyboard to pieces and there is -_-to date-_- no option for ST users.

Why would someone unlock their iPhone to be able to use straight talk? You can already use it without unlocking the iPhone 4...

i had to unlock

Hey guys,

i bought a micro sim card off the Internet, and i still had to unlock my phone (i guess i unlocked it, maybe i only semi unlocked it) to get it to work.

i have BB 04.10.01
firmware 4.3.5

i used tetherme to enter all the apn data.... i guess that would be considered unlocked right?

correct me if im wrong, but isnt unlocking on this BB still not available?

i have more questions to follow but lest kick things off with that.
is tetherme a carrier unlock?

Straight talk AT&T sim requires no unlock. I don't care what iPhone you have.

well, you see, i got the sim card for UNLOCKED PHONES, not AT&T phones, straight talk doesnt really make it clear which one to get, and i was even more overtly naive back when i got it.

if i do a stock software upgrade to 5.0.1, do you guys think that tetherme will respond the same and let me edit my APN?

thank you for responding.

---------- EDIT ----------

the reason im asking is this, my phone is extremely unstable right now, gets stuck in the boot cycle, and likes to go to the rescue mode, i have to fool with it for a bit to get it into DFU mode so i can boot tethered.

i would like to do a clean upgrade to 5.0.1 and do a untethered redsnow jailbreak

What happened with Straightalk is that they are ATT, Verizon and T-Mobile resellers, that is the reason why you don΄t need to unlock your iPhone, you may use a T-Mobile lock phone if you buy a T-Mobile SIM.

Also just for the record, the unlocked chip from straight talk will use their ATT towers... I verified this the other day.

Buy a cutter to make into a nano or do it yourself, you need to buy an unlocked i5 otherwise you wil not get mms with st.

help with factory unlock

Can anyone help me with my factory unlock problem please ?

I have and JB-IP4, on FW 5.1.1 and BB 04.12.01

I have gotten a factory unlock from Att&t with the following instructions;

To complete the unlock, simply:

Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.
Ensure a SIM card is inserted into your iPhone.
Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes. For information on backup and restore, please visit iTunes: Restoring iOS software.
After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.

When i try to do this and restore to a previous backup it does nothing, it doesnt say my phone is unlocked.. do i have to restore to the current fw 6.0 and loose my jailbreak and FW 5.1.1 ? (i dont want to be on fw 6.0 please help
