Iphone 5: New Earphone Jack?

I have heard rumors that the new phone will have a new earphone jack to give to Apple even more control with OTC products.

Has anybody else heard anything similar to this?

I hope not - I don't need yet another piece of equipment in my pockets!!!

Apple would shoot themselves in the foot if they used anything other than then industry standard 3.5mm headphone jack. There are next to no hi-fi headphones that come in a size other than 3.5 or RCA (6.35).

However, the do seem to partially be shooting off a toe with the decision to move the headphone port to the bottom of the phone. SMH.

the bottom of the phone is the perfect place IMO

when you put your phone in your pocket your hand is pointing down so the dock will be pointing up

you rotate the phone when you remove it from your pocket and lift it to your ear

so apple have had the HPJ in the wrong place on all previous device
