I think your camera roll is in:
/private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE
However, I don't think adding photos here through ssh will make them appear in your camera roll, but I think another way you can do it (if you don't have a lot of photos) is to email them to yourself and then download them on your iPhone.
