Preserve Your Jailbreakable iOS :: Block Aggressive OTA Forced Update

Apple’s overnight iOS upgrade push has become far too aggressive in iOS11

Several members have reported waking up to find that their device upgraded to a non-jailbreakable OS while they were sleeping without their consent or confirmation.

Unlike previous versions of iOS, there’s no way to turn off or even fully ignore an upgrade request (demand) from Apple. Your device will periodically fill the screen with a pop-up and force you to make confirmation action with only two options: Install or Later. Ignore / Cancel / No Thank You are decidedly not options.

One accidental press could be fatal. And now it seems even going to sleep after denying the upgrade is fatal to your jailbreak.

First:
If you have a pending OTA update showing up on your device, you need to first remove it by navigating to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage and then selecting Manage Storage from under Storage and then locating the pending OTA update and tap Delete Update.

Next:
Install the latest TvOS profile certificate: tvOS 11 Beta Profile iPodHacks142

Tutorial:
How to block iOS firmware updates, prompts, and background downloads while you wait for a jailbreak

Sidenote:

There will be a new "Feedback" icon added to your springboard screen. As you're using a Beta Certificate, it thinks you're a developer or trial user of TvOS. You can of course shove this into a container somewhere.
Personally, I'm tempted to send Apple Feedback that reads: "Thanks, but I'm not going to allow you to bully me into an update. Screw you. I'm still going to jailbreak your OS."

The profile you installed enrolls your device into tvOS’s beta program. It essentially tricks your device and will now only ping Apple servers for a compatible version of iOS, but only find tvOS betas, it will assume no update is available.

Should you want to update iOS at a later date simply remove the profile under Settings > General > Profile and restart your phone.

If you can’t find it, don’t worry about it. Just go ahead and skip to step two will install the tvOS beta

Thanks for this Heist, much appreciated

Been looking for a way to stop this because the update notice comes late at night and a few times I almost automatically pressed the update now without looking.

Life saver

Then you're squared away. Mine shows the same, BTW.

Yes. Apple is being a bit sneaky. Clearly trying to catch people when they're not as attentive and trick them into updating to the latest firmware they want you to be on.

No more "Gotcha Games" for you, Apple.

Yes. Because you're using a Beta Certificate, it thinks you're a developer or trial user.
I forgot to mention it will add this to your Springboard.

I'm tempted to tell Apple Feedback: "Thanks, screw you. I'm still going to jailbreak your OS."

This works also with iOS 10, tested on 10.3.3.

Alternative download link : https://github.com/alexd-p/noota/blo...A.mobileconfig

Open the link with your iDevice, tap 'Open binary file'. Hit Allow then Install the profile, restart iDevice.

FWIW, this broke my phones ability to locate my chromecast(older model). It worked again immediately after removing the profile.

Hi there, strange happening to my ipad, i have fw that have current jb support - yesterday i found that my appstore does not show up my purchased apps (also free one), called apple - my apps are on their server, so updating fw bye bye jb and will report if it helped to show my apps.

Edit: Apps show up, they damn f#ckers probably block access to appstore!

I was going to ask about iphone 6+ on 10.3.1. Does this method replace the one described by Heist?
