iPhone Stolen

Well guys, it seems my iPhone was stolen a few days ago. while i was getting lunch in a Chinese restaurant the other day. Some guy snatched it out of my pocket ran off with his friends and jumped into a cab, never seen him again... To make matters worse i actually live around where i got robbed and i'm extremely pissed off because it was an unlocked 4S that i paid full retail price for. & i had Find My iPhone installed but that didn't help at all and the Police are barely any help either. Well, do you guys think i should just wait for the iPhone 5 or buy another 4S for the time being? i don't have a backup Phone.

sorry to hear that man. Would suck, icaughtu tweak, could have come handy for u. I would say wait for the new phone if u are indeed going to stick with iphone. Just get a shitty phone for the time being

Really does blow man, im thinking about buying a cheap 3G or cheap smartphone for the time being, and of course im sticking with Apple, i hate Android. & also i did have it installed but it never worked out the way i wanted too (Grrr...) & i never thought i'd ever get robbed so you know, i never took precautions. Im gonna look at some mugshots tomorrow at the police station and hopefully the guys there. Maybe i'll get lucky. & I just hope the iPhone 5 Looks nice & not ugly. Im definitely gonna be waiting in line at launch day.

I would spend sometime playing with icaughtu pro when u installed on ur new phone. It really works very well. My friend actually caught his wife messing around with his phone after she keep denying that she never touch his phone. True story. Don't forget to disable the power off option.

Use an app called prey.

It's an open source freeware app that can track stolen devices including idevices, laptops and phones. U can download it from their website or through the app store.

Your UDID should be saved with your apple ID, in fact im very sure of this, apple should be able to find where abouts ur iphone is and block it if indeed it turns up by being hooked up to itunes, which u know it will at some point in its life.

go back to the police with the box and tell them if they won't track the phone then you will have it blacklisted

I have read recently the carriers have started a blacklist across all the networks in the us

but then the police won't be able to track it

contact apple support through phone and tell them your iphone is stolen,
contact your phone company and tell them the same thing,
then you can contact your local authorities.

I'm guessing no phone so he won't be back for awhile, can't let your guard down for second holding one of these iPhones anymore but the nerve for someone to take it out of your pocket is another thing

On Sunday night my Son was attacked for his IPhone, they came up behind him and hit him over the head with a rock, they took his phone and just left him for dead, he came round in the back of an ambulance, and I know this might sound silly, but to ME, that's a good thing, if he had tried to fight back, who knows what they would have done, he has a nasty wound on his head, and his ego is extremely bruised, but the main thing is, he is still alive to fight another day.

Off topic but I'm surprised that more iphones arent stolen after seeing how some people at my gym care for their iPhones, ...or should I say lack of care for them.

Whenever I play basketball, there must be atleast 15 iPhones scattered along the courts sideline without any concerns. Sometimes, it's hard for me to watch when ppl are literally putting their phones down and skidding them 40 ft. across the court floor to the sidelines/wall like their playing shuffle board. You can do what you want with what you buy but its still hard for my eyes to watch.

Damn, that is just ignorant. I to am sorry for what happened to your son, hopefully the hoodlums that did it pay the price. Like you said though, at least he is ok!

Incidents like this with the iPhone remind me of the 80's and 90's when people were getting jumped for their shoes, particularly Jordan's

What u should do immiediatelly is: call APPLE SUPPORT and BLACKLIST this number directly with INTAppleDB. It is possible only for the phones bought directly from apple(stock factory unlocked) cause if you're registered owner what apple will do is to revoke this IMEI from its international DB its 10 times better than blacklisting by the CARRIER cause this isnt limited to one country!!!
Do so before this scumbag have a chance to Ebay it! So u make sure he will fucking earn nothing on ebay...who wanna buy Iphone which got just IPOD functionality?
