Iphone 4 no baseband

Hello,

I am new to this forum and I hope I can get some help here and in time contribute as well.

I bought a used iphone 4. I want to unlock it to use it with any carrier. The phone has no BB Its even hidden and blue tooth is at all zeros.

I think it is already jailbroken becuase i see cidia on it. The version is 5.0.1.
Since i bought it as it is I have no blobs. I tried running Tiny umbrella but it does nothing.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

---------- EDIT ----------

I have heard of others suggesting to use sn0wbreeze to make a custom IPSW and restore. but how do I make a custom IPSW?

Well it is hard to determine without any further informations.

You should make a restore and post the restore logs from itunes .

It can be a hardware issue or the previous owner tryed to flash the ipad baseband without knowing that the latest idevices beginning with the latest 3gs generations got diffrent baseband chips from toshiba on that the ipad baseband does not work.

Try to make a restore with a stock apple firmware ,and post the restore log.And we can see on .

Thanks for the suggestions.

Ok I will do a stock restore. But should I do a latest version restore or to the 5.0.1? Or does it not matter?

Download sn0wbreeze, download the 5.0.1 firmware from felixburns or somewhere else on the net. Start sn0wbreeze and choose the ipsw that you downloaded. Choose Ifaith mode. Either choose the shsh blobs u have downloaded for your 5.0.1 or have it get it from the server. Then go through all the other stuff and have it build the ipsw after it is done follow the instructions that sn0wbreeze gives you to put it into pwned dfu mode and then when that is completed open up iTunes hold down shift and click the restore button. Choose the ipsw that sn0wbreeze created (should be on your desktop) and let it restore. Then u should be good to go.

That is correct

---------- EDIT ----------

PhoenixRaven,

Sounds good and I will try this but...Just curious what is the difference or why is this better than what Gawernator suggested.

Thanks

If you want to preserve your baseband then just make a custom 5.1.1 IPSW. Easy.

You requested how to use sn0wbreeze to make the custom ipsw, in the op (the first post) of this topic. I was merely answering your question with detail.

I got busy the last few days so I didnt log in or mess with it until today.

Ok so I followed all these instructions and at the end of the restore I got a message on Itunes that says :
"There is a problem with your Iphone"
"We're sorry, the iPhone you connected may be damaged and connot be activated for service. We recommend you visit your nearest apple store for more information."

and on the iphone it asks me to choose a couple of settings like country and stuff like that but after that it goes to "connect to itunes" mode. and when I do connect it to Itunes it just gives me the same message.

I looked for the restore logs in iTunes but I couldnt find them either.

Any Suggestions? Thanks

This is definitely a hardware issue – usually a combination of a defective or corrupted baseband processor chip and Intel/Numonyx/Spansion NOR chip, baseband SRAM chip, UMTS Transceiver IC or broken micro components.

This usually happens after doing a restore, or a forced baseband update to 6.15.00 using redsn0w. In a more recent case, flashing iPad baseband will cause this problem due to a new Toshiba chip used in iPhone 3GS.

To those of you who like to scout for used iPhones on eBay, be sure to check with the seller before making your purchase. Otherwise you will end up with an expensive brick!

What are the symptoms? If you go to Settings, you will see Wi-Fi is grayed out and it shows No Wi-Fi.

Under Settings > About, the MAC address for Wi-Fi is showing is N/A while Bluetooth is showing as 00:00:00:00:00:00.

Under Settings > General, Bluetooth is shown as Unavailable.

Your iPhone will also reboot itself every 2-3 minutes.

If you can’t get your iPhone replaced at the nearest Apple Store there’s still hope of rescuing your iPhone. What you can do:

Do a full restore with a stock firmware via iTunes
Flash the baseband to 6.15.00 using redsn0w
Reheat the logic board with an oven or the baseband chip with a heat gun

Thanks!! This helped alot.

But now I tried to use redsn0w to flash BB but it doesnt give me that option...It shows the rest of them like to install cydia and costum bundle but not the option to flash the BB. I even tried different versions of redsn0w. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
