Icon5 iPod Touch 4G White - iOS5 Unlock Lag

I find that a lot of the time after I slide to unlock my iPod there is a few seconds where the iPod doesn't respond.

Is this a common iOS5 problem on iPod Touches?

Um.................Not really.................i mean it;s common to happen every once and a blue moon. But should not happen all the time...........I would restore if it happens too often.............DO NOT restore from backup if you do.....This defeats the purpose of restoring in the first place because often whatever was causing the lag/bug/problem...........just gets backed up too and put back onto your device..................So if you cannot fix it any other way.............Then I recommend you restore and NOT restore from backup, but instead setup as new iPod............and when setting up on the iPod make sure to USE iCloud (if you do happen to use it for contacts, bookmarks and such) but to still not restore from an iCloud backup.

Restoring fresh and setting up as new pretty much assures that the problem was removed also.............I mean.................Unless it's a hardware thing obviously.lol.

But I don't think that is your case..........

I have exactly the same problem! After I locked my iPod touch (white), and let it for 2 minutes or more, after I slide to unlock it's freezing for 3-4 sec, and do nothing!

At the first time I though it beacaus some unlock tweek, but after I restored it as a new iPod, and JB it with the latest redsnow, I installed some tweek like SBsetting, weekillbackground, blured NC, it's doing the same BUG! And nothing help?!

Any idea??

The white iPod Touch has a lot of problems due to the fact that they have altered a slight part of the RAM inside the device. A friend of mine that works at Apple told me that RAM was slightly decreased in the new one. My old iPod Touch 4G Black works fine.

I don't think It's an apple problem, without JB and tweeks, it was working fine...

I believe this is a winterboard issue
Try installing Barrel and set the effect to none
That will speed the lagginess from winterboard right back up (if that is the cause of this)
If I have helped please press the little thanks button in the right hand corner

I have the exact same problem with my black iTouch 4, I think it's a bug with either iOS 5.1.1 or the 5.1.1 jailbreak as I don't have anything 'special' istalled such as Winterboard, SBSettings or any 'cool' things like Barrel, fold to unlock, androidlock etc.

May be caused by low system memory....

After installing ssh and terminal, grab syscleanpro and run it in terminal

Then see if it still lags

FIX!!

I would take my iPod out of my pocket and it didn't matter whether it was 10 minutes, 3 minutes, or an hour, it would lag on the first page of icons on the springboard for a good 5-7 seconds after sliding to unlock and after that everything went smoothly. I also noticed that my accelerometer (allows apps to rotate based on how the phone is held relative to gravity) was intermittently working and often needed a reboot to fix when it would stop.

After reading all these posts, and other forums, looking for an answer to the same problem I'm having as you guys and coming up short, I started digging deep into Cydia's file system. Alas I found a solution, at least in my case, and I want to share in hopes it helps some of you because this really was driving me insane! **

For starters, I'm running iPod touch 4g iOS 5.1.1 jailbroken with redsn0w.

In Cydia I found some files that were installed from a different package that I later removed but the dependency files did not get removed with it (which they never do). For those of you having problems do this:

Go into Cydia and navigate to the installed packages. Make sure you've enabled Developer mode in Cydia so that it doesn't hide any packages from you. This can be done under Manage-Settings-Developer. In the installed packages look for Darwin CC Tools and uninstall it. You may see other packages get removed with it as well. In my case it also removed Link Identity Editor and UUID Generator. You may see that an actual application you've downloaded is also queued to be removed once doing this. Unfortunately you'll have to remove the app with these files until these files are fixed for iOS5 support. (If this doesn't work for you just re-install the app. Can't hurt to try.) Once I removed these three files and rebooted (I chose to reboot to ensure this was done cleanly. Cydia only said 'Return to Cydia' and didn't force me to do the reboot) the device I've not had a single lag since, and the accelerometer works as it should now.

**

Please post back if this helps you too!

P.S. To those of you who have not jailbroken (device is stock) I can't help there. This only applies to jailbroken Cydia packages.

Holliday333, Can you try this from another angle? Try removing the Link Identity editor and see if that also tries to remove Cydia. Removing Cydia is obviously not the route we want to take so don't remove that. If Link Identity Editor also tries to remove Cydia then try just removing the UUID generator and see what it tries to pull with it.

If all three try to remove Cydia then I would suspect the jailbreak with Absynthe could be the culprit but this is only my assumption. What I know is I removed one of those three files and it pulled the other two files. Upon removal of all three my lag issues are gone, this I am certain of. Nothing else I did solved the problem.

This was my cydia screen when it removed those files. After rebooting when this was done my lag problems went away.

http://s1160.photobucket.com/albums/...rent=photo.png

After looking at that image I'm very inclined to say I removed the UUID generator first and it linked to the other two files. I apologize I can't recall which one I did. It was one of the three. It also seems I was in mobilesubstrate safe mode when I did this but my understanding is that wouldn't be necessary in this case since safemode just disables the daemons that apps run. Worth a try if you want

"slide to unlock" lag, delay, freeze in homescreen of ipt4 - bluetooth cause of the problem

I had the same problem and the bluetooth is causing the lag or delay on the homescreen after you slide to unlock. this only happens when bluetooth is turned off. i think ios 5.1.1 has a bug that is causing the bluetooth to malfunction after you had installed your apps. try turning it "on" then test it. as of now i don't have any solution to turn off the bluetooth without having the lag or delay issue on ipod touch 4g.

does anyone know now, how we can turn off bluetooth without the lag, delay, freeze when you slide to unlock on the homescreen of an ipod touch 4g.

ios 5.1.1
ipod touch 4g
jailbreak using redsn0w_win_0.9.14b2 and absinthe-win-2.0.4 (tested on both, i tried restoring for about 5x already then i discover the problem)
