Unable to parse ipsw error in Redsnow

Hi All,

Im new here, and in need of help. I am trying to Restore my iPhone 4S 5.1.1 using the latest Redsn0w 0.9.15b3; everytime I click on "Custome IPSW" and Select the file iPhone4,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore (which I downloaded), it shows an error " UNABLE TO PARSE IPSW. ARE YOU SURE IT'S REALLY AN IPSW?"

Need your help guys...

I tried to do the same thing, i didnt get that error but i got another error saying that the only .ipsw's you can use for custom IPSW is iPhone 3G, 3GS, and the iPhone 4. Your gonna have to do a restore via even more -> restore. This however will upgrade your baseband.

Thanks! But will I still be using the same 5.1.1 firmware for this? What will happen if my baseband will be upgraded?

I used the same firmware as well. i just re-restored my phone a few mins ago. If you rely on an unlock to use your phone then dont re-restore or else you wont be able to use your phone on that network. If your using a standard carrier then you should be good to go.

I see. But I am unable to get to that option since everytime I click on the IPSW in the Restore Option, redsn0w throws me this error: "UNABLE TO PARSE IPSW. ARE YOU SURE IT'S REALLY AN IPSW?"

It seems that the firmware that I downloaded is not recognized by Redsn0w.

What's the problem here?

Try downloading it from another source? try this link http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS5.1.1/0...6_Restore.ipsw

As long as you have your shsh blobs you will be able to re-restore

You cant do cfw on a 4s you need to load redsnow, got to extras, then "even more"

Click restore and follow the instructions, basically load the ipsw and choose remote for the blobs.

It will throw up a warning about baseband, read it.

Thanks for the reply guys! I downloaded from another source and it worked! I was able to restore my iPhone 4S! i just had to update the baseband though.. 3.0.04. Any problem with this, or is this ok?

If you have AT&T you should be fine.
