Thinking of switching to Android (maybe)
Just wondering if anyone uses Android as well. I wanna switch just to have a wider choice of phones but im not sure i will like going from my jailbroke iphone to a rooted android.
I mean i love being able to go to installious and seeing the top downloaded apps. Im sure you can just find the apps you want via the web and download them from your phone but is there any hacks or app sites like installious that have them all bunched together? Or is it just hunt them out.
Thats really the only thing i think id miss is the free apps and stuff.

Stupid question??
Ive never used a rooted android phone so i know nothing about it, just curious if theres a site/app similar to installious that makes downloading apps easy.
Or any other pro/cons someone who has had experience with both could offer.

In order to download applications from the Android Market illegally, you could use 4shared or any other uploading sites that have Android applications ending with apk. Search the app you want and download it. It should install automatically.

there are apps that attempt to have similar features to installous on android however all the ones I tried where / are buggy as hell making the only reliable way to install pirate apps to download them from filesharing websites as stated above and installing them manually Portal - DroidAppz used to be a good source but what it is like now I don't know

Sorry if y'all get this a lot, I skimmed through the off topic and didn't really see anything. I don't really plan on getting rid of my iPhone, just looking at ways to get a better phone without dropping cash for a 4s (I have a 3GS). And from what I've seen on Craigslist I could get a decent android that beats the 4 specs for a lot cheaper than a 4 (this wasn't a matter of the best iPhone versus the best android by no means)
I think those of you that acutally answered the question answered my questions. I'll probably stick with my iPhone for a bit.

You will miss your iDevice and be back soon. I tried a droid before it was my buddies it sucked ass compared to my iPad lol. It's funny though my buddy was like "can I play on your iPad" then hands me his crap droid... 5min later I'm like dude gimmie my iPad back lol. Later he said he should've bought an iPhone 4.

Well, i own both devices. My iphone is my phone, my htc sensation is my spare if im going someone where i dont want to risk my iphone being nicked or damaged say mountain biking.
The phones do pretty much the same stuff, however, the android app market is SHIT!
no tomtom, not nearly as many apps as the iphone. ALL the top apps are for apple.
If you search for example, for a pool game on apple market, you get 100s of qulity apps
do the search on android and you get the half the number, 30% are clones 40% are unfinished buggy nasty looking things that would make a C64 owner embarrased.
the only good about android phones is you can replace the battery with a spare if it dies on a long trip away from a power outlet and you can have live widgets and erm, thats it.
I use that htc for an hour and my god i miss my iphone SO much.

Android simply sucks.
Look i dunno how often i explained this already, Android Os has to run on countless diffrent brands of mobiles. Due that this Os unlike Ios that has only to run on a few sorts of Apple products ,can't be that fine tuned as the Ios from Apple.
Dat's one of the reasons devices like the S III got quadcore cpu's to compensate the lack of fine tuning of the OS .
Sure the SIII is an 4s competitor ,but for what price ? The more cpu's you got and the more ram you got equipped on a device drains the battery noticeable more then a dual core or single core device. And dat's are not the biggest drainers ,the biggest battery drainer is the display depending on the broghtness levels you use to use it ,it drains besides Umts and wifi connections the battery unbelievable fast . I know guys swearing on adroid devices sitting attached to the wallcharger to keep the device alive while they are gaming on it ,
That is hillarious, and even if some stupid comments state that they are always able to load the device any situation , i still keep asking myself what the purpose of an transportable battery powered cell is if i cant use it without keeping it attached to the charger in order to use it for a longer period.
I told you already go ahead and get yourself an android device to experience that what we / i have told you here in advance in first place on your own,
I don't get any mo from apple to kinda promote their idevices here ,but in direct compare android devices cant keep up to Apple mobiles .

I'm on android now and will never switch back to an iphone. Android speeds are faster than iphone and retailers don't give a shit it you root your phone or not. Droid has snappzmarket which is basically installous. You can download apps from there and install them right to your phone. My choice to go with droid is a matter of personal preference for what I like to do. In my opinion, apple has better apps than droid but as far as phones go I think a droid handles better. Dual core processors and the ability to be able to multitask without a hitch. Plus if I'm correct i dont think any iphone is truly running on 4g speeds yet. This is why AT&T was trying to buy T-Mobile. That would have given them the updated network they badly needed. And in some areas droids are running the 4g lte. No iphone has that yet!!! Dont get me wrong, the iphone is a great phone its just my personal preference to use an android. And this was the reason I have been off the site for so long. I got my iPad and forgot to rejoin when I got it. The only thing I noticed that Android can't do without some serious tweeking is see emoji. Other than that, Droid is superior in my book. Ask yourself one question. How many times have you tried to multitask and crashed your iphone??? Ive done it plenty of times. Ive never crashed my droid in a year and a half after having it!!!
