Edit your details : Jailbreak-Method-Version-Section should be added

Hi there!

I have been enjoying this site very much and lately I am trying (with my limited abilities in these matters) to recontribute a little to this site.

Now I got an Idea when I was browsing through various threads.

Since this site is covering Jailbreaks-Topics so well and way better than any other site I know of; it came to my attention that there is no field in "Your details" ("Edit your details-Section) in which the users could enter with which tool they jailbroke with (absinthe, redsnow bla bla....)

In different threads people had questions and the first answer was: what is your jailbreak method?
That's why I think a new field in "Your details" should be added where one could specify her/his jailbreak version !

Maybe we should even think about the possibility to add more than iDevice in the details section, cause a lot of people have an iPhone and for e.g. an iPad, but this is going to be a bigger change for the future.

So, what do YOU think?

Rock on!

Interesting idea.

You could also add this info to your signature part of the forum as the space is greater.

As you say some users have multiple devices and have used different methods for jailbreak ing so this area may be better suited for this info.

Have a look round at some of the examples people have done.

Just look at lyje17s signature below for the perfect example.

Yawn iam tired .(not because of your post.)

I dunno , are there so many ways to jailbreak a actual firmware ?

Let's count em = there is Redsn0w(1) and Absynthe(2) and maybe Snowbreeze (3) /where i think this is not a direct Jb tool like the previous counted one's/ more of a pawnage tool for windows for creating customfirmwares.

And feel free to correct me if i forgot something .

I think i can overview this .

As far as i can remember i personally might have asked maybe only a dozen times what a tool someone used to unjailed his idevice.

I dunno - and i don't have to make any decision about this after all , this is up to the Boss .I just voiced my thought's that went trough my mind reading about this subject or suggestion.

Boss ?

Sure everybody could add his details regarding the jailbreak into the signature, but
this would mean extending every single post and this would cause more pages per thread, since the signatures would need more space.
These big signatures are a pain in ass, anyway.

So my idea is to have a standardization like we have with Operating system, carrier, iOS and such

Good thing with signatures we can request not to see them so shorter posts.

With the side data its a nice idea but how long would it become. This would be the same issue. When the boss sees this he can also express his thoughts.

Yeah nice idea but if everytime a new firmware comes out and theres a new jailbreak tool version 1.0 1.1 1.2 etc etc will the boss have to keep updating the options and will we have to keep updating our profiles? mine says firmware 5.1 Im actually on 5.1.1. I cant be arsed to check if 5.1.1 is an option as 6.0 will be out soon. maybe lol

If your on 5.1.1 its a safe bet your on absinthe, in your not then redsnow and the rest is snowbreeze
