Seas0nPass updated to support Apple TV (2nd gen) 5.0.2[untethered]
Seas0nPass provides an UNTETHERED jailbreak of the 2nd gen Apple TV running the latest 5.0.2 (iOS 5.1.1 - 9B830) software that was released on June 6th, 2012.
The 3rd gen Apple TV is not yet supported.

Thanks Just a quick question is there a way to update and rejailbreak with out loosing all my data and settings in plea, xbmc browser bookmarks and that sort of thing as up to now every time I've re-jailbroke the atv-2 I have to start from scratch and it takes a while got get it back as I like it

Install nitro and xbmc - replace xbmc folder with the one you copied earlier

Thats a nice little tip I was wondering though is I was to copy the hidden XBMC folder for XBMC that is installed on my mac would that also copy all the settings and add ons over

The part of jailbreaking a iphone or ipad is easy to understand....but apple tv? what is purpose that what I am asking. does it give you free movie access? or more applications to add on?

Yes! XBMC is very popular (i use it and loving it), with XBMC you can add numerous sources (addons) to stream TV SHOWS, MOVIES, and more. There's also aTV flash black from Fire core. You might learn a thing or two in the that section appleTV section

Just a heads up for anyone who accidentally (or otherwise) updated their ATV2 firmware to the latest 5.2.1 (6.1.3 equivalent in iOS) and has been stuck without a method to downgrade nor jailbreak, all is not lost!! Head over to the FireCore (SeasonPass) support forums and grab the tethered jailbreak in the meanwhile, which for now is Mac only, but a windows version is expected as well soon!
