okay so i remember hearing about the ikee worm for iphone ages back and to get it basically you had to dim enough not to change your root/mobile passwords when you install ssh.
now i am unbelievably uptight about my ssh passwords and changing them the first thing i do once i jailbreak.
i opened cydia today and there was an update on the bigboss repo for zephyr. checked the change log and it addressed some stuff i was waiting to be fixed. tapped update. and done a reboot (i dont like resprings) rebooted to see my phone had been rick rolled
now how the fuck did that happen exactly?
im stumped because when i opened mobile terminal and enter "su root" and it asked for my password it was in-fact my custom root password.
its also a persistent little bitch because even after deleting the main files i now need to delete some files that according to the tut i am following. breaks cydia which means i will then have to reinstall it .
anyone else copped this thing on ios 5?
i heard about it happening back on ios 3 but i never had it happen to me (until now)
---------- EDIT ----------
ok i think i've gotten rid of it.
for reference i followed this old tut on how to be rid of it
iKee iPhone worm, how to remove
but when i rebooted ssh was uninstalled even though cydia was saying it was still installed so reinstalled it and got that working. but the wallpaper and lockscreen background had not reverted. but it let me change it to the default one in settings.
other than that is there any way i can check to confirm 100% that this piece of shit is now gone, and to figure out where it originated from on my device or is it not activated via a local file?
i want to make sure its gone. pain in the ass
still can't figure out exactly how it got in. or why it kicked in after updating zephyr from BigBoss
---------- EDIT ----------
btw it did not break cydia. the steps listed in section B of that thread were "invalid" because each one of them said file or directory does not exist. part A steps all worked as i did not get an error message from mobile terminal. but i had to do them twice. once after a reboot because somehow a couple files came back. wallpaper and lockscreen photos are gone, but not sure if its gone for good.
but now i really want to know how it got in. if its still technically on my phone. and how to check that all files related to it are gone. and if not how to find the little bastards. !
it seems almost impossible that zephyr brought it into my phone. i think it was already there before hand. but i hadnt rebooted/resprang for a while so after i had after installing zephyr it showed its head.
