[GUIDE]/How to fix Safemode Loop and 90% of Problems

ever seen this

does it keep coming back dont know how to fix it

I can't tell you all how many times I see this thread (I swear half my thanks comes from answering these types of questions
"apps crash"
"I installed something from Cydia now I'm in safe mode"
"mail app crashes"
"phone app crashes" ect. ect. ect.

if you ever run into a problem and you dont remember the last thing you installed, or you have any sort of bug this is the first method to figure out what it is.
I am not showing you anything new but I am sick of answering the same question over and over.
any who here goes

open SbSettings

then tap more
then scroll down to mobile substrate addons

proceed to turn ALL you mobile substrate addons OFF

(mine are on)

exit SbSettings and your phone will re spring

once it has resprung check to see if your problem is gone (if its still there restore)
if your problem is gone go back to Sbsettings / More / Mobile Substrate addons
turn them back on ONE by ONE
exit Sb settings after turning each one back on
your phone will respring each time you turn something back on and exit SbSettings

each time your phone resprings test to see if the problem has come back

proceed with this method until the problem comes back
once the problem comes back you know the last thing you enabled is causing the conflict and causing you to enter safe mode or crash or what ever your problem is.

hope this is helpful.

You can then do some further investigation
Your suspect mobile substrate add on may work perfectly as intended but is conflicting with a different ms addon
Go back to sb settings and turn everything OFF except for the suspect ms addon
Exit sb settings and let you phone respring
If the problem is still there it confirms that there is defiantly something wrong with the tweak in question
How ever if the problem is gone
Go back to sb settings and turn your ms addons on one by one again until the problem comes back

Example : I'm pretty sure Quasar for iPad is not compatible with Dream board or doesn't work in dream board
If you were running a dream theam and installed quasar. then used the above method you would come to the conclusion that quasar was broken. When in fact after further investigation it is not broken but rather not compatible

Just more food for thought

Thanks for the help. I saw the big red warning sign in Sb setting and stayed away. Now is a great debugging tool.

Another thing some might find beneficial from SBSettings is....if many stock apps are closing/crashing and you're in the situation described in the OP where it mentions to restore if your problems still persist after disabling all MS addons/entering safemode etc...

Well, if you plan on restoring anyways or if you feel you have nothing to loose/no other options etc...you can fix permissions by using SBSettings>more>System Options>Fix User Dir Permissions

^^ This saved me from a restore when nothing else worked and nearly all of my stock apps were constantly crashing/not functioning.

Good to hear. It's so simple but a great debug tool. Not enough people know what it's for. It is always the first thing I do when I have a problem. Spread the advice around

Umm no offence Mr.x but common sence isn't always common

Simple advice to you and I isn't always simple to others

We are here to help others. Not show them how little they know

As instated in the guide. I answer the same question over and over "my mail app crashes", "my apps won't open" ect

Obviously it's not JB 101 or I wouldn't need to answer this question.

But thanks for pointing out my pointless thread.

Merry Christmas

Hard to make stupid people less stupid it is not our jobs. They should be learning the basics of JB and sbsettings, then when stuck ask Questions we can answer.

The biggest killer app I had was ICaughtYou ,, had a load of resprings (even in safe mode) due it causing memory leaks. Had a crash log for each even located in /private/var/logs/CrashReporter

This process is much easier with the free app iCleaner.

Also very worth mentioning, if you are already stuck in a "boot loop", then try pushing and holding the Volume Up button right when you reboot and see the white Apple logo, hold it until you see the lock screen. This is booted Safe Mode but it wont say it at the top. You can then proceed to follow the guide above to find and uninstall the culprit. I've had to do this at least 5 times over all my history of iDevices, saved my neck many times.
